Trumps Iranian Sanctions, what is he trying to achieve?

If we're not imposing sanctions on them because of their nuclear weapons program then why the heck are we? Because they're a backward Islamic country that murdered and dismembered a Washington Post journalist in Istanbul? Because they're where 15 of the 19 9/11 bombers were from? Because they're...

Trumps Iranian Sanctions, what is he trying to achieve?

Sanctions are the status quo. Forty years of them got us a nuclear armed Iran.

Makes sense. Many have an API so you could program a solution. Coincidentally having an API is generally a sign that they're more stable.

    Dividend strat

Financing as in the interest rate you'd get from the "arb" vice the risk free rate? Agree on that, some of the numbers posted earlier in the thread, although based on faulty underlying data, seemed pretty in-line with the risk adjusted rate for that transaction.

    Dividend strat

I think you'd find that the "arb" opportunity you see is actually the consensus for the probability that the dividend is downgraded in the time necessary to profit from the arb. So diversifying would just make it more likely you achieved exactly zero expected value profit.

    Dividend strat

Reduced 92% to $.01/share, effectively what you said. My advice to the OP is that you seem to be overly reliant on the data your platform spits out when it comes to dividends and are making the assumption that dividends stay constant. As we've seen the first is dangerous, I can also tell you...

    Quant Cofounder for Options Arbitrage

There's a massive difference between experienced entrepreneurs and traders pointing out deficiencies in your ideas and thought process, and trolls/hate. People pay good money to have experienced folks shoot holes in their ideas, in fact I'd say I owe my success in my first startup to the fact...

Shorting the market in a non margin account. No direct shorting of stocks.

The majority of inverse ETFs and ETNs provide an inverse of the daily percentage return of the market. This is a very different return from holding a fixed number of short SPY shares, for example if you hold the product for anything more than a day. The market could go down 10% over the course...

Zero positive carry interest income when trading forex futures?

Sometimes you can find one who is lazy updating their rates and find a stale favorable rate, but it's hard to arb because you have to keep moving money between the forex and real broker accounts as the prices move. The transaction costs and delays quickly eat up any arb profits and they catch on...

Charles Payne: Fed Chairman Jerome Powell Crushed The Market...

Of course, I was simply pointing out the absurdity on several levels of the fed keeping interest rates artificially low to to keep debt service low.

Charles Payne: Fed Chairman Jerome Powell Crushed The Market...

It's a lot more nuanced than that. Rampant inflation makes debt dissappear as well, so by that logic it's in the government's best interest to keep rates at zero and encourage inflation! Thankfully we still have a few adults in government who can think more than a few days into the future.

SEC Won’t Release ‘Speed Bump’ Study It Promised Two Years Ago

You're making an implicit assumption that HFT has a net negativit impact on market quality and pricing. A simplistic view says it does, and if forced to guess I'd say it does, but we're not forced to guess, we can actually do A/B tests. So while I'd tend to agree with an auction model, I think...

The Nightmare Scenario: JPMorgan Warns Of $7.4 Trillion In ETF Selling During Next Downturn

Do you think that, in and of itself, will lead to different panic selling scenarios than we've seen in the past? I guess it depends on if the selling is coming from retail who were previously in similar mutual funds, in which case the effect would be similar? If not, the question would be if...

The Nightmare Scenario: JPMorgan Warns Of $7.4 Trillion In ETF Selling During Next Downturn

Like a stopped clock being right twice a day (back in the analog days) I think ZH mistakenly hit on something just not what they thought they had. ETF selling is absolutely no different than any other selling that has ever occurred in the markets in the past. There's nothing new or particularly...

SpotFX Versus FX Futures - Price Delta's?

Forex futures aren't super complicated, less so than options, for example. So highly learnable with a good basic book on the subject and not too much in prior background or advanced math required, if you're interested.
