    best investment books of 2018

I don't know if that's a positive endorsement of Bridgewater or just a really really sad commentary of the rest of professional life!

Further blow to America's Farmers as TPP moves ahead

Nice, now having personal experience makes me a "special interest whiner" while you revel in your ignorance. Isn't it interesting how you completely ignore the inconvenient truth that you know nothing about this subject and instead turn it into a personal attack on those who do? Are you proud of...

Further blow to America's Farmers as TPP moves ahead

You're making a massive assumption that I don't think you're aware you're making. Sure, we'd all like China to have better control of IP, no-one disagrees with that. And sure, there's part of every trade agreement where the U.S., if you're looking at it from a U.S. centric viewpoint, could be...

    best investment books of 2018

To extend on that thought, in practice his principles require that you follow them with a cultist mentality. If you read about Bridgewater it's scary, they actually have a whole hierarchy of enforcers who ensure that everyone there has drunk the kool-aid and remains a zealot to the Principles...

Further blow to America's Farmers as TPP moves ahead

You are seriously advocating that we should kill billions in trade for a drain cleaning device that someone "invented" that go knocked off by the Chinese (That's what his "FACTUAL" clip was about, for anyone who didn't view it)? Again, are you fucking serious? Again, have you ever read a trade...

Further blow to America's Farmers as TPP moves ahead

To summarize again, have you read a single word of the NAFTA or it's replacement USMCA? Have you ever read the actual text of any trade agreement? Have you ever run a U.S. company which engages in U.S. trade? Or did you form your opinion based on what you heard from friends and Fox/Breitbart/The...

Further blow to America's Farmers as TPP moves ahead

Actually I own a U.S. company with a Canadian subsidiary. I've done a line by line analysis of USMCA vs NAFTA because it directly impacts me personally. I'm going to venture a guess that this is far beyond the level of analysis you've done on the subject? So you can forgive me for being a bit...

    Coal Trading

Again its highly idiosyncratic depending on what type of coal they mine and their shipping situation. As I said, the current reality is priced in. If there's a global downturn more than what is already priced in with tariffs, Brexit, and the rest, the metallurgical coal folks will go down. If...

Further blow to America's Farmers as TPP moves ahead

I guess that's my problem, I don't frequent the political forums. If that kind of "reasoning" is what's on offer there then I probably won't start any time soon!

    Coal Trading

So I know this is an absolutely crazy thing to say, but before you think about trading a commodity you probably want to know at least the very basic facts about it. And I'm talking actual facts, not what you're served up on Fox, Breitbart, and the Daily Caller. When you say "coal" what kind of...

Further blow to America's Farmers as TPP moves ahead

Your statement makes no sense whatsoever, regardless of which political party you support! Let me make this dead simple for you. Obama signed something. Trump unsigned it. Those who supported it thought it was beneficial to farmers, that's why they supported it. Those who supported it thus...

Relocating to a new country to trade. Where do I go?

Those pesky friends and girlfriends interfering with the really important things in life like money and code. I sincerely wish you the ability to find perspective in life my friend, that is far more important than what you think you're seeking.

    SPY options bid ask spreads

Then make a market in options! If you figure out a way someone is legally making windfall profits in the market why in the world would you sit around complaining about it instead of joining in and exploiting the shit out if it?

If markets are a Zero-Sum game, is the PPT making $ or subsidizing everyone on net basis?

Clearly a given futures contract is a zero sum game for the seller and buyer. And clearly the weighted sum of all participants equals the market per Vanguard. I would point out that S&P 500 futures only "lead" the market in after hours trading when they are the only game in town. There is a no...

If markets are a Zero-Sum game, is the PPT making $ or subsidizing everyone on net basis?

If you read the document they're obviously not saying that investment in the stock market over time is a zero sum game, that would be absurd given what Vanguard does since it would effectively be saying that their product is worthless. They're trying to sell indexing and basically saying that...

If markets are a Zero-Sum game, is the PPT making $ or subsidizing everyone on net basis?

Do you disagree that you can replicate SPY with an S&P futures portfolio?

If markets are a Zero-Sum game, is the PPT making $ or subsidizing everyone on net basis?

Of course it's possible to roll S&P 500 futures and almost exactly replicate the return of SPY. Not to mention that if you agree that something isn't a zero sum game then cutting it into smaller time periods doesn't turn it into a zero sum game, just from a basic logic perspective.

Doug Kass wants to tax retail traders out of existence?

A point to consider is who "we"? If you are the 80% of the worlds population in the developing world, that whole industrial revolution and expansion of people finding a better life thing is still in the future. Your elements are still there for the vast majority of the people in the world.

Unemployed people kill themselves at around two-and-a-half times the rate of those in work

More impactful is a breeding ground for crime in general. There is a very strong correlation between crime rates and unemployment. Given you're far far far more likely to be killed as the result of a run of the mill crime than a terrorist attack, that's probably the low hanging fruit.

If markets are a Zero-Sum game, is the PPT making $ or subsidizing everyone on net basis?

Which is exactly why if you're interested in economics you should make the effort to get a solid economics education rather than just listed to what you've "always heard". Let's break down your statement. First, "markets are a zero sum game". Really? The market cap today of the Russet 3000...
