Losing Execution Priority using IB TWS

dst, Thank you for the status. I'll call next time to get real time analysis. However, there is obviously something that I don't understand. I always track my current position and never (to my knowledge) place combined sell orders for more than my positive position shown in my account...

    IB - NYSE directed orders

Quantplus, P.S. I forgot to mention... I agree with you about the quotes. I get data from several other sources and am able to put together a much better picture of the market including depth when I put it all together in my mind. IB just seems to build a composite from whatever data you have...

    IB - NYSE directed orders

Thanks for the reply. I thought the fee was gone, but I wasn't sure. I've been avoiding NYSE stocks due to concern about that fee since IB still shows it in a few places on their website. I called IB twice with the same question that I have posted here. I got a "yes" the fee is charged on my...

    IB - NYSE directed orders

I forgot to mention that I am asking with regard to using TWS to place a direct routed NYSE order and not the API interface. Thanks.

    IB - NYSE directed orders

Does IB charge any fees for direct routing to the NYSE using the bundled commission structure? For example, do NYSE directed orders (NOT SMART routed) still get charged a fee if they remain directed to NYSE for more than 5 minutes?

Losing Execution Priority using IB TWS

rayl, thanks for the info. I "believe" that I've seen my "loss of priority" issue on both buy and sell sides of Island. So, maybe it has nothing at all to do with long/short decision logic. My recent observations have been on the sell side. I'll watch for it to happen on the buy side again to...

POLL: What is your primary order type to EXIT a trade?

Maybe Market GTC means that if nobody is making a bid/offer on your security today, that there might be interest in it tomorrow. :D

Losing Execution Priority using IB TWS

rayl, don't forget buy long and buy to cover. These are on the buy side. It's not just an issue on the sell side. I stay long, so I would not expect to flip any long/short software switches. I received a call Friday after the market close from IB tech support. I was able to give a good...

dst... Sounds great to me. Thanks.

Losing Execution Priority using IB TWS

Just for clarification, the behavior I observed was based upon direct routed orders only. I had no SMART routed orders in place while observing the loss-of-priority problem. I'm only holding long positions. I don't place sell orders unless I have show the appropriate amount of stock in my...

Losing Execution Priority using IB TWS

Thanks for the insight. That would make sense in most cases, but not mine. At this point in time, I only trade long and sell from my portfolio. Perhaps IB just automatically resubmits the order without checking, just in case there has been a change in short/long status.

Losing Execution Priority using IB TWS

I'm having a problem with losing execution priority on orders directed to Island. I use Interactive Brokers standalone TWS and Island directed orders (not SMART routed). I have both buy and sell orders for the same stock simultaneously. When I get a partial or full execution on one side, the...

    Competing with fractional cent trades

Thanks Kevin. I found the article you referenced. It's right on target. You've provided a solution to my mystery and some food for thought. :)

    Competing with fractional cent trades

I've been successfully scalping low liquidity stocks/ETFs (not penny stocks) with IB TWS for about a year and a half. I use Scottrade streamer to get my T&S info. I always have lots of non-marketable limit orders and am frequently on the inside of the advertised spreads. I lose a lot of...

    Taxes at IB

At least one problem that I identified on my statmements is that Corportate Actions show a PnL of 0.00 on my monthly statements. However, they properly show the gain from the involuntary sale on the IB generated D-1. So, PnL on the D-1 is higher than the monthly indicates. There might be...

    1099-OID from IB

Does IB issue 1099-OID statements? How or when do you obtain it? It doesn't apply to most traders. If it applies to you and you've been with IB long enough to know, maybe you could enlighten me. I'm not sure that it matters to me. I guess that I could just report the OID accrual myself. My...

Regular hours limit orders on IB that will participate in the opening cross

fbell50, I'm glad to see that you pursued this issue until IB got this feature implemented... as I was getting nowhere with IB on this issue. Yes, I trade ultra low volume stocks. I'm used to watching opening trades elude me when I had a better bid/offer than the opening price. There might be...

Regular hours limit orders on IB that will participate in the opening cross

I feel that I have definitive proof that a SMART routed sell order participated in the Nasdaq opening cross and remained active after a partial fill. I had a sell order for 1755 shares of MITT at 9.74. 630 shares traded at 9.74. I then traded 99 shares at the same price immediately after that...

Regular hours limit orders on IB that will participate in the opening cross

Been out of town for a few days... That sounds great fbell50. I'm glad to see that this problem is getting fixed. You had better luck than I did getting to the right people at IB. Cudos! :)
