It depends on the market conditions and the products. Eg for day trading NQ, my usual stop is 10 points. When the market is violent, my stop could be 20 or 30 points. For day trading hangseng, my usual stop is 25 ticks. When it is violent, my stop could be 30 ticks

Simply stop reading such news. Then your mind will not be contaminated.

Wrong mister. Not all small size contracts are doing well. That include nikkei, CAC40, copper. Even the small traders prefer to trade the big size contract.

I don't use the IB charts. so TWS works well for me. Honestly, TWS is rather stable and fast. 2 to 3 decades ago, it was horrible.

Too many regulations. Traders should have the freedom to decide whether to trade leveraged products or not.

simply throw away the book since there is no mention of the stop loss. There are many lousy books that exclude vital details (eg when precisely to enter the trade, where to put stop loss ....). It is because the author doesn't know about it, or he refuses to disclose it, or he doesn't trade at all.

I am extremely wary of reading news from CNBC. It is one of the worst places to get the news. It can cause serious mind contamination. After the mind is contaminated, you have to do deep mind cleansing. Do note that those people are professional talkers, not professional day traders.
