Has anyone ever seen a stock market meltup?

Same thing with Technical Analysis - you can make a case for anything (especially if you include worse than useless analyses like wave counts [Elliott and Gann never work in real time]). Which is why I recommended the OP pursue statistical time series modeling and NOT T/A.

Has anyone ever seen a stock market meltup?

You can find enough information on the internet, published by enough “subject matter experts” - to justify ANY hypothesis you care to posit. Doesn’t matter how outrageous. And still only about 50 traders (Likely far fewer according to Michael Lewis) foresaw and took advantage of the subprime...

Trump Has Gotten China to Lower Its Tariffs. Just Toward Everyone Else.

The strength of “petrodollars” as a “pillar” as you claim has been transformed the past several years due to producer origin. The United States is now the largest Crude Oil producer in the world. And by a comfortable margin over Russia and Saudi Arabia. And I’m quite sure that US refiners and...

Looking for a great book or two on technical chart analysis.

If you are up to it, I would like to recommend an alternative: statistical modeling and data structures of financial data - for example, time series analysis. It will serve you much better. Just my 2 cents, I wish you good fortune.

Trump Has Gotten China to Lower Its Tariffs. Just Toward Everyone Else.

Other than "orange man bad" - it's too easy to get lost in the demagoguery. A paradigm shift has already taken place in the past several months. Now, a very legitimate argument could be made against the use of tariffs - but China would be very mistaken to think that a Democratic House and...

China says: don't bet against yuan, we're defending it

Here's the thing. The CCP shoots people. In the back of the head. Sentences citizens for long stints of hard labor for violating currency laws. In fact, as of August 2017 Chinese Bank employees and foreign banks are now required to report overseas spending via domestic Chinese bank accounts...

China says: don't bet against yuan, we're defending it

China will find very little sympathy from the Democratic Party. Many candidates don't like the tariffs - but every one of them has openly stated that China needed to be confronted. Forbes: Dear Chinese Government, The Democrats Won't Save You...

Well, as a general rule - leaders of countries don't agree to meet under extraordinary circumstances unless there has been substantive progress towards resolving an issue. That's just standard statecraft.

Chinese Cash That Powered Silicon Valley Is Suddenly Toxic

I’m afraid that US foreign aid (and military spending for that matter) is likely to become a casualty regardless of which political party holds power - domestic priorities like single payer health care and infrastructure are going to require intensive re-prioritizing. I’m not going to say...

Chinese Cash That Powered Silicon Valley Is Suddenly Toxic

I take your point. My impression from the 60 Minutes Australia piece was that the Chinese OBOR program isn’t a grant in aid - it’s a Loan where China takes over the port facility if the loan doesn’t get paid back. And Myanmar has no way of paying back the loan.
