Hotties leaving CNBC - Why ?

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/does-cnbc-have-a-problem-2012-01-18?link=home_carousel At least this area of the job market appears immune to the economy. Still, all of the defections is cause for concern about upper management there. Is CNBC losing their cache ?

    The 2012 Crash

AAII Bearish Survey : lowest reading since 2005. http://ycharts.com/indicators/investor_sentiment_bearish My call: we go up even more, then collapse. Big question is "could this fall occur before the November election ?" The politics at work here are important.

When the boomers lose their pensions. That's when it will get violent.

Baloney. I've been in the throes of capitalism as an independent contractor past 20 years. I should be retiring. Instead, I'm working harder than ever just to pay all of the highly paid professionals...doctors, lawyers, pharmacists, dentists. In many cases I've got to work a whole day to pay for...

Yes, sorry...poor choice of words. It succeeds in the manner of only preventing depression.

Confessions of a loser who need to quit

These are incredible stats IMHO. What do they say ? One phrase: Strategies must adapt to new market "conditions". This guy is no dummy....he was making great money, and then "something" changed. I traded Pro back in 2004 and can confirm that was a shitfull year...choppy, trendless. I got...

QE III is highly risky. If it fails, we go into depression....as our govt runs out of money and the American people disallow more debt to be taken on. If it succeeds, hyper inflation likely in 5 years....and that would make the gold bugs look good. In the former scenario, they're in bad shape...

Agreed. Now a socialistic form of government...unlike the 50's. B.S. They've been getting hammered: no influence or power...the 99 percenters, remember ? They're like Arnold Schwartznegger in that movie where he is crawling along with one arm...remember ? They're done, finished, caput...

Confessions of a loser who need to quit

I can vouch for this: setting stops too tight = running scared. You'll always get taken out and THEN the market will go your way. Knowing the right leeway is the "key" IMHO.

Simple solution: Hanns G Monitor 281 HPZ model. 28" monitor. I have the older 281 D model and it's great...knock on wood...they have been known to die easily...bad caps, bad main boards, etc. The key to this monitor: super brite output and 16:10 screen format. All of the newer monitors have...

I Need Your Tip: Laser or Sterling??

I think the answer is: it doesn't matter. The speed of the feed and orders is INDEPENDENT of the software and likely affected by the server and the internet connection. Both programs are written in C++, so hard to believe the program is the bottleneck.

I Need Your Tip: Laser or Sterling??

Yes, but be careful: a STOP LIMIT order on a close of an existing position is not assured to prevent a loss. If the price goes beyond the LIMIT price established for said order, your losses continue to mount.

I Need Your Tip: Laser or Sterling??

This has always been a big problem with prop trading: support for stop orders. When I was using the old Laser 8 years ago, it had no support for stops at all. That was a huge turn-off for me. I later learned there are 3 different types of stop handling methods: 1) exchange-based 2)...

Trading Full-Time Is Not What I Fantasized

Well, that is a way to spend most of your time researching, programming, and backtesting....which is intellectually stimulating. It does require some special skills....stats, coding, etc. For the most part, trading over a several week timeframe can be boring. One option to consider: scalping...

Alpha - those are great ideas and employed in many other forums. Points rating for the thread would be terrific. That being said, most of all needed: Stronger moderation....with point sanctions: First offense: 10 pts 2nd offense: 20 pts 3rd - nth offense : 20-30 pts depending upon...

    Devastating after hours trade...SCREWED!!

This is correct. An interesting side note on this is the lack of validation in most of the order entry platforms for this very condition. The software should trap this before sending the order: "You've entered a limit order to sell below the market, this will likely result in a fill at the...
