Scalping stocks - Demo vs. Live - Tradestation - Fail

IB's demo account is similar. Why not trade Live for testing, but use only 100 shares ? Stay small, stay safe until your strategy is proven.

    Firefox 9 - 100% CPU consumption

Halleluyah - Firefox Version 10 has come out. Appears each and every release is now a MAJOR release !!! They went from 8 to 9 to 9.01 to 10 within 6 months. The CPU issue appears to be licked....at least I can type now. However, with a lot of tabs and windows open, expect CPU to go to 60-80%...

Should I panic about my short position on Apple calls?

No, that's not the point. The point is his timing: right BEFORE earnings season ? That is not a good time to be shorting premium. Met another trader who did the same thing using a GOOG Iron Condor. Lost his shirt after earnings came out. He thought he was far and wide enough....not to get hurt.

New at selling options Is this play a smart or dumb move

Also, consider an automatic stop loss by purchasing the lower or out of-the-money puts with the same or further out expiration. This will "cap" your loss and reduce margin requirements considerably. Yes, of course, your potential profits are reduced.

    FXE short position

Well this Euro movement is quite a dance. But I think this is the last hurrah for this currency. The consensus seems to be that despite this currency being weak, short positions will take time as continual news out of the EUC attempts to bolster this guy. That tells me that shorting the calls...

Any of you making $5k-10k per day??

Yep, couldn't agree more. When I was trading Prop, I had this great short position that was getting wildly profitable, very quickly. I held for 30 minutes...and said "I'm going to let these profits run....I'm not going to be shaken out". Well, 5 minutes later, there was a giant short covering...

Day of clashes at Occupy Oakland ends with at least 400 arrests

No, Future's is right....it's amazing to see what those in the legal profession get away with.....and they all have "special passes" to get away with it. Disbarrments are laughably rare. They all know that, so it just builds and builds....unabated.

Of course not...they are unemployed and pissed off. This is just the start of a tumultuous 2012. Expect much more of this to come.

    Baltic Dry Index

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/global-ship-glut-fueling-baltic-dry-index-plunge-2012-01-27?link=mw_home_kiosk The way these rates are plunging remind me of the way IT consulting rates plunged after the H1B visas were enabled. Pretty dramatic.

Any of you making $5k-10k per day??

Plus, just to average 1% gain per day would require $500k as starting capital....that gets you to $5k per day. And forget about BP here....you'll likely go bust with a 40:1 BP factor. In other words, you can't go Prop and put $12,500 down and expect to make $5k per day. 3 losing days in a row...

Robert Reich has mad drawing skills

Yes, it's so SIMPLE to understand, but now that government is so LARGE, it's tough to DO: Reallocate capital from the poorly productive government sector (including defense contractors) and place it where it will be used EFFICIENTLY and PRODUCTIVELY....into the private sector. Simple in...

    We Have Topped

There is no question that bears could continue to get slammed as all major monetary "authorities" around the world continue to liquify their weak economies. Even Greece may pull off a miracle in March. However, this cannot last IMHO. We are good till June at the most....maybe.

    Bond Pricing Computation

Thanks Bob, but I think the Excel 2007 implementation of PRICE is accurate. It's written in C and very fast. I also have the VBA counterpart which is much slower....but provides the same results.
