    Algo/Auto/HF Trading

Futures/Options...simply because I don't have the capital for equities. AlgoDeal: interesting, but not what the market needs. It needs a service with low commissions, a good scriptable trading platform that also has a risk management overlay. Basically, it would emulate a high frequency...

    But what about copper ?

Yep - thanks zr1. 3.25 is next, then 3 - even...that'll be the big one.

Experienced trader looking for new prop firm

I dunno...by trading for a penny or two this <may> be possible. I know most money managers can't claim this....and even the best traders have a bad month once in a while. You must have huge BP and very low commissions to pull this off however.

I think the problem is: I don't recall his rate. Is it around 20 cents per 1000 then ? In that case, it's $100 per day. BTW: I think that's about the lowest of the lowest rate you can get, correct ?

Interesting. So what's their average win amount per share ... a penny or two ? What's their stop loss ? Even ? IOW, they sit there for x seconds, and if not filled, then they pull the order. And when they get filled long, they put in 2 stops - one at the entry price and the other 2 pennies...

Wait ! I think we are both wrong. At 2 cents per 1000, isn't that only $10 per day ?

    But what about copper ?

Indeed ! April down to $3.41. It's right on the precipice boys.....it's gotta hold here or look-out below.

What language were you programming in ? Were you using the Excel link ? Sterling now has an Elite version of their platform which I believe is for algo trading. http://www.sterlingtrader.com/trading_platforms/trading_platforms_elite.html

interesting ScottSam.... you are averaging about 500k shares per day then ? So if you are trading 5k lots on the average, that's 100 round turns per day. That's gotta be automated, right ? So your fee/commish is about $10k per day ?

Quit the stupid name-calling guys. Loss = Risk when trading in liquid instruments....especially intraday. Loss > Risk when trading instruments that exhibit a lot of slippage....or when trading interday.

Why not Bright Trading ? They've always seem to get a good word and I am pretty sure their platforms/servers are pretty dependable.

    Algo/Auto/HF Trading

Thanks for that explanation. Once again, the platform software needs good failsafe logic to detect and then prevent more than x orders in y milliseconds...with x and y being configurable globally and by trader.

    Algo/Auto/HF Trading

I don't quite understand that. Doesn't the admin portion of the platform permit them to set max losses for each trader position as well as a loss threshhold for the day ? How is that really affected by being present or not ? Remote traders could have the same limits as the local traders. Other...

    But what about copper ?

Indeed, now copper is flat to up a penny. Very weak price action IMHO.

    But what about copper ?

Copper up 3 pennies on the housing price news. However, COPX remains weak.

    Algo/Auto/HF Trading

You mean show them the source code ? I don't quite "get it". Also, most of the large prop firms do not have an easily programmable auto trading platform. That's been the really big problem.

I hear you. But doesn't this seem like a great idea ? I mean everyone's been saying the old prop model is dead and discretionary trading is dead as well. Why not this ?

    But what about copper ?

No question Bone...I wouldn't consider it anywhere even close to an r-squared of 0.5 to equities. Here's a good one: The Aussie's may lead us to that break below $3.40...... http://www.marketwatch.com/story/australian-stocks-lower-early-miners-skid-2013-03-25?link=MW_home_latest_news
