1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Governments need to shrink to reduce their spending. Looking for additional Taxing sources is NOT THE SOLUTION....it just prolongs the existing problem.

What are the most professional automated trading platforms ?

Listen up guys: Excel (especially 2010) is a heckuva flexible data analysis tool. However, it's NOT APPLICATION SPECIFIC...aka "trading". Your high level tool for that is either Tradestation or Multicharts. These are trading-specific programmable platforms. Each has a robust language with a...

Mark Cuban breaks one of tradings golden rules

You guys are so wrong on Cuban....he is smart beyond belief. He was one of the very few who hedged his locked equity in the crash of 2000...so many others lost everything. This facebook bet was a "nit"....he lost $200k on a $5M bet....that's nothing.

I Coverd FB (Facebook) now long FB - why FB will be a $100+ stock within a year

This is a very appropriate comment. 5 years ago, many expected GOOG to tank in price, but it did not because of it's strong business model and earnings. Shorts got creamed....big time. I think many of these high flyers are only holding up bacause of this "Google effect". These stocks are not...

I Coverd FB (Facebook) now long FB - why FB will be a $100+ stock within a year

if FB can continue to innovate, monetize...... That's a big "IF". Now that the "this stock is going to the teens" shorts have gotten creamed, it's time for the longs to get creamed now. FB, Zynga, Groupon, etc. are all going to feel the effects of weak global economy.

    Sterling API Developer Thread

No question about it. Multicharts is ready to roll-out their dot-net version. Even their base product looks good....as it's multithreaded. Problem is: they are not in the prop space. Prop firms only provide Laser, Blackwood, Realtick and Sterling platforms. Each have issues with their API. None...

    Facebook Crash

Interactive Brokers lists them...but nothing came up when I hit the "Check Availability" link. Perhaps it only is active during RTH....I'll try it later. http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/trading/ViewShortableStocks.php?cntry=usa&tag=United%20States&ib_entity=llc&ln=&asset=&b=EWV&e=FBZ

Really ? Since when was XML an efficient data transfer mechanism ? It's always been bloated IMHO. I'd like a detailed technical explanation for this....I smell something here.

    Prop trading (Black box)

I have to agree with Don here. Unless you are simulating a market making role or scalping for fractions of ticks or spoofing the order book, colo is a waste of money. It's like buying and then driving a Ferrari to church. When Nasdaq and the other exchanges start to impose those cancellation...

Thanks SMI for that...I really don't want to waste any more time testing platforms, etc. I'm a survivor from the old TS2000i debacle by Bill Cruz. What a waste of time that platform was ! Hey, nice website....I signed up.
