    But what about copper ?

Huge break down in Copper over the Cyprus situation....counter to the precious metals which are up. One might ask: what the heck does Cyprus have to do with the price of copper ? Great question ! Likely answer: nothing. Copper is just showing how shaky it has been lately. The longs were just...

    But what about copper ?

Cyprus situation putting more pressure on the red metal. Can it crack it below $3.40 ? Oh boy...this just came in from Marketwatch.com: Gold found some buyers, with gold for April delivery GCJ3 +0.24% up $4.30 at $1,596.90 an ounce, but copper fell, with the May contract HGK3 -2.30%...

    But what about copper ?

http://blogs.marketwatch.com/cody/2013/03/15/crime-confidence-and-precious-metal-price-fixing/ Any implications for copper ? Heck, that's huge on the London exchange as well.

    But what about copper ?

Sorry, can't agree...until it's been BACKTESTED. Everything is conjecture until the results of the back testing come in. Heck, it could have some merit: go long when the slope goes positive, go short when it goes negative. So with that strategy, traders would be long right now.

That is exactly what I discovered. Too much logic simply results in curve-fitting to PAST data. Not good for future results. That being said, the shorter the time-frame, the more logic can be applied. I.E. HFT does require somewhat more complex logic. But you are trading in hours for instance...

    But what about copper ?

Back down to the ever-so-important $3.50 level. Moved down today in sympathy with the FXI. Very weak price action recently.....IMHO.

    But what about copper ?

Really interesting comment Oldtime....obviously, it had no effect on CME or NYMEX futures prices. So China's on the "copper standard" now, eh ? (vs. the gold standard). That's gotta be bearish, no ? When we went OFF the gold standard, gold soared. China is doing the opposite....so the Yuan...

Everything up today except.....metals. What's up with that ? Currency moves ?

    But what about copper ?

Australia's strong labor market has no effect on the red metal. Chinese proxy FXI is up, but futures barely holding on to gains. This is quite a "tell", no ? And this possibility has simply huge implications for the price of copper...

    Gold at support

All I can say about Gold and actually this applies to all of the metals: Once there appears to be even a remote end to QE3, all hell's gonna break loose on commodities in general. We are going south HUGELY and RAPIDLY.

I think his next gig is a no-brainer: At the trading desk of an IB (GS, JPM, Citi) He's got both discretionary and algo experience ? Wow, that's huge. Many IB's are moving towards all automated trading....and he can assist in that migration.

    But what about copper ?

A picture is worth a thousand words. Slight trend up since Jan 2010. Shorter term: it's been a roller coaster. Now forming a huge wedge.
