    But what about copper ?

Our friend the red metal is closely following US equity prices today. It's still above key support at $3.40. What will it take to drop this guy ? IMHO: a decline in US Equity prices.

    Algo/Auto/HF Trading

Are there any prop firms out there that support traders who run trading systems ? I know this was discussed a long time ago, but that was over a year ago. Also, the firm must support a decent programmable platform like Multicharts. I once tried using Laser, but it kept blowing up and they...

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

Look guys....as in all markets, "Anything can happen". I still think Surf's "short YM" theme at these lofty levels has a lot of merit. The exact timing of this short...well, that really tough to say.

Sorry for that errant post. I'm going to run SPS vs. Sortino vs. Sharpe using some random performance curves....so we can see the differences.

Copper in the news today. Interestingly, not really affected much...up 3 pennies actually. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/do...dist=lcountdown

    But what about copper ?

This red guy is really "rockin and a shakin" down here at the $3.40 level. Lots of back and forth action. We could see $3.55 before we see $3.25.

Let me code this up tonite in Excel and check it out. I don't see the problem with a risk free rate of return being assumed at 1% for the past 5 years and likely into the future as well. If it varied wildly, like back in the 80's, then it would be significant.

Which will be more bearish,CBOT soybean, meal or soyoil?

Beans had a rally day despite bearish news from China. Gotta be some shortcovering after the recent sharp decline.....definitely oversold.

    But what about copper ?

This is interesting: take a gander at a chart of CRBQX - the commodity research bureau index as an ETF. Copper's recent action has correlated very well with this index. This index is about to break the uptrend intact since June 2012. Alas, once again, no options for it on the CBOE. I...

Bottomline: SPS is a "bust"...correct ? It's just some sort of statistic, but does not correlate to true performance....right ?

Which will be more bearish,CBOT soybean, meal or soyoil?

Dunno, but beans getting close to breaking huge support at 1385-1390. I saw a report indicating a decent crop year would have the "beans out of the teens". Catchy phrase, isn't it ?

    But what about copper ?

March Copper holding at $3.41....the pressure, the PRESSURE !! Another way to go on this theme: ETFs. There's COPX, the globbal copper miner's index. It's been mombo weak as you could imagine. Unfortunately, no options at the CBOE on this guy....yet.

    But what about copper ?

Thanks for that Hurricane. And notice the immediate criticism he received on his blog page. There is no doubt it's made quite a move down recently. However, I think any bounces back should be shorted. $3.40 looms large as the last bastion of defense for the longs....and we are already at that...

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

Not to blow my own horn Surf, but my journal has been in the Metals futures subforum. I've been calling for weak copper for quite some time and finally the break below $3.50 has now confirmed that. Thanks Cyprus ! http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=3761733#post3761733...
