    Why do traders fail?

    Cornix as we have your online journal... Which yearly profits target would you say is extremely extremely extremely easy to get ? 0.1 ? 1 ? 10 ? 100 ? 1000 ? 10k ? 100k? 1m? 10m? 100m?

    Why do traders fail?

It looks to me that people have an amount they hope to make ( worth the effort, above the actual level of dissatisfaction) , and this amount is often in total discordance with what after some experience they can evaluate as easy to make.

    Why do traders fail?

dbphoenix : I see your point. Thanks for explaining very clearly. Now if these people were said : for all of this you will go for 10$ one day next month, how many would queue?

actually from which target would you say you need to scale up ? would you say the target is easy to reach? Obviously the target that made you say say would be worth the effort. 0.1 ? 1? 10? 100? 1k? 10k? 100k? 1m? 10m? 100m?

    Why do traders fail?

I wonder if the failure comes from not knowing when to stop for the day. :)

    Why do traders fail?

Interesting. The lower the amount : the easier it is to reach during one day trading session, BUT the less motivating it is to do what it takes. The higher the amount : the less easy it looks, BUT the more motivating it looks.

    Why do traders fail?

I am not sure your approach is motivating enough. Say you are given just one day next month to trade. You can choose your day, but you have just one day to take the trades you want. For which minimum level of profits would you be willing to really "get out of bed" for? I mean prepare...

    Why do traders fail?

Would you get out of bed ( aka do the work necessary) if the day target is break-even? I wonder how people would trade if their end of day target was break-even ? Obviously with the constraint of making at least one trade.

I am actually playing with an excel sheet : Day profits profits target | how easy to make | and why | would I get out of bed for that ? very interesting mind chatter.

    Why do traders fail?

Actually I doubt anybody would bother for 10$ target, even your nine years of trading problems person. The reasoning being : not worth the effort.

    Why do traders fail?

I say this because if one has for instance first year trading a target of a completely ridiculous number of say 10$, the pressure is completely diminished. And I'd guess many more would have a positive year - 10$ is indeed achievable for everybody. I think the problem is when looking for mega...

    Why do traders fail?

It is true that there is a very thin line between trading and gambling. Without putting safeguards, one can easily fall into gambling. I think one thing that would help traders reduce failure rate is to determine in advance how much profits they want to make for the year, and to work on...
