Goldman Sachs Traders Are The Best !!

The banks are doing algorithmic trading. I witnessed this at JPM when I was contracting there last year. They were doing it in the Forex spot market. However, this was not a big portion of their overall trading volume.

Do tell Random....just how DO they do it ?

Goldman Sachs Traders Are The Best !!

Great stuff sle - but why doesn't someone embrace these ideas in a prop firm ? With almost all prop firms today, you're "on your own".

Goldman Sachs Traders Are The Best !!

The lack of responses to this thread MAY be indicative of the quality of the traders here. Are there any Goldman traders subscribed ?

Goldman Sachs Traders Are The Best !!

No question about this "portfolio" effect. I just wonder why someone doesn't create a prop firm using this same model: good traders pooling the profits with some sort of bonus system in place as well to reward the great traders. Payouts made monthly. Sounds good, no ?

Goldman Sachs Traders Are The Best !!

No wonder they get the "big bucks". http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-05-10/goldman-sachs-traders-lost-money-on-one-day-in-quarter.html How many traders on this site can beat this one-losing day statistic ?

    TBT long play

[/B] Hmmm.....I see your strat: go long term. I'm more of a short-term guy....but as you said, the short term puts have quite a premium. Ever thought of shorting the weeklies ? That's a strat I am definitely considering.

    TBT long play

Leaf - congrats on the FOSL. Can I ask you ... who tipped you off ? I never even heard of them before. What a great strat....buying cheap puts before earnings. I met a trader who did the opposite and sold an Iron Condor in GOOG before earnings. Lost his shirt. That was dumb. Good trading is...

    TBT long play

TBT shooting for all-time lows ! Wow, this is definitely the definition of insanity. How close to zero will interest rates go ?

    TBT long play

Nice leaf ! And right you are.....TBT should be following the S&P 500, but operation twist has thrown a monkey wrench in that correlation. You have excellent short ideas...much better than CSTR which just refuses to crater. It will eventually....probably right after my put options expire ;)

    Hold Bros

They tried to establish a presence in the Philly area. Took one look at that crappy trading platform, and that was it for me. Don't know if they folder in this area or not.

cnbc ‘freaking out’ over low ratings.

Not me. I forgot to throw in brunette "Deidre Bolton".... wowzer....she's a spinner too. Overall, looks like despite Maggie leaving, the Bloomberg girls have got a distinct edge over the CNBC girls.

cnbc ‘freaking out’ over low ratings.

Ahh....I see you have the "blond infactuation" disease. She's nice, but there's no way she beats any of the other 3 beauts.

cnbc ‘freaking out’ over low ratings.

Wow, I just saw the announcement about Maggie. Now what is she going to do ? And I wonder what was the real cause for her departure......I doubt it was over money.

cnbc ‘freaking out’ over low ratings.

Bloomberg's Matt Miller is very good. Dominick Chu is a bit obnoxious, but he is smart. Of course they have 3 hotties who are easy on the eyes...Maggie Brennan, Alex Steel, and Gigi Stone.....the latter being the newest...

    TBT long play

Thanks for that post. At least I'm not alone. This TBT long idea is working just as badly as the short EURO idea which EVERYONE said was a "sure thing". Right. This long TBT is only good if economies continue to strengthen...which they are NOT.

Billionaire trader John Arnold retires at 38

EXACTLY. He was likely HUGELY SHORT Natty gas futures. Just look at the charts. It was a once-in-a-lifetime move....not unlike John Paulson's CDO trade.

Why folks lose money daytrading ES

Yes, what you have witnessed is the essence of "market efficiency". Other contracts are likely to execute your limit order faster, but will likely put you at greater risk of losing....as it will move away from the current price much faster than ES. Good discussion on the basics of electronic...
