No Brainer Breakouts or How An Early Bird Catches A Worm

For worst case scenario you can assume a maximum loss of 2% of your actual portfolio size per a cluster of trades, if you so wish. As I said this is not about sexy results, it's about Holy Grail or how NOT to lose out. No stats, sorry. This is fun based exercise :) Don't forget that every new...

No Brainer Breakouts or How An Early Bird Catches A Worm

I have a question: Who has observed ES locked within 1 point range starting 9.30am Eastern? Next question is what is an ATR for first hour of ES trading session, even if it is an estimate?

TY! You see if I was to choose a range of say 500 ES points, then there would be little point in this exercise, but what is ES's ATR for the last 20 years? If you know a value of an average oscillation, then it becomes less of a coin toss to estimate range of next oscillation. Bring in timing...

50? You will fail to find a chart that would whipsaw in a range 50 times :)

Did you vote? You can take it to the bank & it won't fail. I have seen so much p/a that it is not a gamble to say that it is Holy Grail in trading :)

Hey man how you doing? Buy resistance 1038.75 & Sell support 1028.5, double position every time position gets stopped out/reversed at either support or resistance. Profits target equals at least twice the range, in todays' case range is 10.25 that means profit target is at least 20.50 points...

Range 1038.75 - 1028.50, therefore targets for Long trades 1059 & for shorts 1008. (Quite wide range for ES, might take 2-3 days to get to targets)

    1. yes 2. no idea This is just a fun exercise of how to achieve a 'guaranteed' gain if both greed & leverage are kept in check. I do understand that it is a totally unsexy thing to do :) It is totally bias free, just like a remora fish attaches itself to a bigger one, we attach our...

You don't have to predict the time of a breakout, you just watch price get from A to B & react. Of course if one was to anticipate a turn, then timing is a lot more important. I am a changed man, breakouts are in, indicators are out! JKing, won't abandon me histo on longer term charts :)

'When' is probably one of the worst factors to be predicted. Just as Wave suggested - embrace a breakout & 'when' will become a secondary factor :)

Weekly histo suggests that upside ought to finish here, now the weekly bar has closed just below the TL (but oscillations ImPO are not based on exact numbers). My gut tells me that they will try to initiate a bigger squeeze creating a failure on the Daily chart, H&S in other words.
