Problem is: My strategies work with tick bars which are a superior (IMHO) measure of market movement. Perhaps the reason why many strats fail is they try to employe time bars which are problematic because of the "dead zones" that occur during the day.

I would not trust a cloud-based service...no way. It's gotta be a remote server that I can RDP into via wired connection to an IP address. Now the server can be real or virtualized....and that makes a big difference in price. Also, it can be dedicated or shared. For me, the best set-up: shared...

There are a lot of cheaper ways to do this. For instance I can rent a shared co-located server that has my own copy of multicharts on it for about $500/mo.

Performance monitoring should be your foremost task with this endeavor. Next, think about building into the algo bet-sizing based on performance.

Much of corporate America is like that today: zombie-like. There are so many marginal people in positions of power at these large companies. Of course, many got their jobs from friends or acquaintences there. One thing you want to avoid today is joining a company where you know no one.

AI for trading has proven abysmal at best..... all it does is curve-fit the past. Let's all remember LTCM....and all of those PhD's.
