I prefer trendlines as they are attached to actual prices. I guess you could say that I am from the old school, using only price movement and volume to analyze the trend. Simply, I do not find that indicators, moving averages and such to be as accurate as analysis of the price movement itself...

Just so that you will now know and for what it's worth, in the country where candlestick charts originated most printed charts still use candlesticks, but very few Japanese any longer use candlestick patterns in their TA.
