    Do Trendlines work?

How one trader may make a play 'working' a trendline: The thick red downtrend line on the attached chart is a good resistance area for a consolidation to build (energy to build) and then a move higher. As well, the horizontal line at 13500 is a significant resistance area because of all...

    Do Trendlines work?

Wow, wasn't expecting THAT much of a thrust, but hey, what the heck.

    Do Trendlines work?

Dow bulding some energy here for a thrust. (intraday type of timeframe) Don't know which direction the thrust will be.

    Do Trendlines work?

This happens very frequently: A strong up or down trend, once the trendline is broken, price retests the line (green circle in attached chart), and then bounces hard. Being that a big part of trading is finding events that occur over and over again, this should be able to somehow be...

    Do Trendlines work?

The attached chart shows a pretty significant support trendline. The support area / trendline has been respected several times and even halted todays avalanche with quite a bounce . So what ? Well, what I will watch for is a consolidation at the line and then a break below for a short. I...

    Do Trendlines work?

Thanks for your thoughts. "the best way to make money in the market" suggests that there is one. Remember, as you have already eluded to, each trader has what works for them. One best way for one trader may be total noise for another trader. My tradersaavy posts on this site show how I have...

    Do Trendlines work?

Here's what I'm going to watch today. The angled lines are drawn from 2 major swing points. The more respect of a line (touches) the better. The more prevalent the swing the better. In other words, in general, the more the better. The horizontal lines are plain and simple Support and...

    Do Trendlines work?

    1. It is definitely useful to explain how one draws their trendline. There is some good info in this thread on the 'how'. It probably has to be pieced together but I have laid out how I draw my trendlines in this thread and joepepper2001 is laying out some good info too. Sure, it would be much...

    Do Trendlines work?

Kind of getting into semantics here I think. "Do Trendlines Work?" : 'Work' probably has different definitions per each reader. There are many fine examples in this thread though showing how to 'work' a trendline.

Sticking with the theme "do trendlines "work" " here's taking profits with trendline (attached chart)

    Do Trendlines work?

Looks good. Might be a little easier to read the trendlines without the Fib lines on there too. Thanks for posting.

    Yo, trendline guys

All time high breakout is underway, where to take profit is the question. See attached chart. Is the blue line the measurement for how far this pattern should extend as a breakout ? 400'ish points ? Let's see if the 2pm treasury budget meeting does anything to the market.

    Yo, trendline guys

.......and here's a longer timeframe (90m) with important trendlines which may not come into play for a couple trading sessions (again, never say never)

    Yo, trendline guys

WELL, forget that previous chart ! Dow gapped over all the lines. (it was a short timeframe) However, don't think I'll be shorting today (never say never) so I'll watch this all time high breakout on the long side.

FWIW ~ over top red line I'lll consider long ~ under lower red line I'll consider short green lines are initial support/resistance

    Do Trendlines work?

This link showed a real time example of using a trendline for entry. The trade was triggered late in the day and, guess what, another trendline folks, for the non-beleivers, was used for profit target which was actually reached in overnight trade for a 52 point profit. This line used for...

Thanks. It's interesting. I've never really followed trend lines using close data.

    Yo, trendline guys

You should get used to ES over time. Get to know it. There will be times that volatility will be high and times that you should notice that it is very low. This can be intraday, with news announcements, or over long time periods where general volatility increases/decreases (even over summer...
