If you want to fail as a trader, study TA

Alas, there are none as blind as those who will not see. Or take a LOOK :D http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quickchart/quickchart.asp?symb=look&sid=&o_symb=&x=0&y=0

Software Used to Trade Jack Hershey Methods

Here is another example of my mod. I have not thought through the logic for shorts yet, only longs, so that is why the arrows during the downtrend are ignored at the moment. My point is that time spent bashing might be better spent analyzing. This is MY approach, not JH's. The only thing I...

Software Used to Trade Jack Hershey Methods

With so many people bashing JH, I wondered whether there was anything I could glean from the splinters that I have read. I do not understand JH's approach. Instead I took a small piece of code and modified it with my own ideas and came up with this. If JH and those here are indeed making...

Anyone has TICK data in IB

yw. Yes the 1st part of the day is missing. I find it strange that the data is available, but not being sent. Oh well...

Anyone has TICK data in IB

If I load a new chart, I get the day's TICK data but it is not updating. So it is out there on their server as it is building historical bars, but not sending realtime updates out.

Goldman Sachs E-Mail by Montag Described CDO as ‘Shi**y Deal’

Yes, financial companies are required by law to hold onto that data. Since for their own recovery purposes they have redundancy and off-site backup, getting a copy should not be a problem for the government.

    SEC charges GS with fraud

I think GS has a big problem. They identified bad publicity as a risk factor going forward themselves. After these charges and the little problem with Greece, any potential client looking to do business might suspect that GS will stab them in the back the first chance they get if it will...

    Help with Ninjatrader

Not sure how quickly you can learn it - that's up to your own aptitude at such things. It's not as simple as using Excel, but Excel would not be best for that kind or work because it isn't really the tool for this kind of thing on a large scale. A C++ or C# program would be even better doing...

    Help with Ninjatrader

I think it also depends on how you have the data. If it is in smaller files, then Excel would be ok, though still time-consuming. If it is in one huge file, or even if not but you know your way around a database package, importing it into a DB would be better. Then you can build the rule to...

    Help with Ninjatrader

You might try importing it into Excel (or any spreadsheet) as comma delimited. Then change the format of the Date column (there are custom formats selectable under "Format"). Then "Save As" into another file as Comma-Delimited (don't overwrite your original just in case!)

    What a Prick!!!

That was hilarious! It got me thinking - when was the last time I wiped my hands on someone's clothing - let alone while they were wearing them. I wonder if this is going to be a problem going forward, in that Clinton will glad-hand anything that his hand can reach, but Bush doesn't look...

Whats the point having a NASA like control center?

Is religion the origin of civilization?

I think science and religion start with the same question - "Why?". I also think both science and religion become dogma if they believe they have the definitive answer that precludes all others. For scientists, that would mean the death of science. For the religious, it means they are...

    Bloomenergy

The story listed an assortment of possible fuels - oil, gas, ethanol, etc. It seems that homes with septic tanks might be efficient candidates once the price point is lowered in mass production.

Is religion the origin of civilization?

instead of the other way around? Interesting archeological find http://www.newsweek.com/id/233844 "The site isn't just old, it redefines old: the temple was built 11,500 years ago—a staggering 7,000 years before the Great Pyramid, and more than 6,000 years before Stonehenge first took...

CPAC 2010 Straw Poll RESULTS: Ron Paul Wins Big

If I recall correctly, the GOP gave Ron Paul the back of it's hand at the last GOP convention. He was only given one pass to get in, had to return it if he left the floor, and wasn't allowed any guests. No one else was boxed-in like that - you'd think he was a democrat. Basically he was...

    Spelling and Trading

It is strange, but a few years ago I was relatively careful about my spelling and grammar. Then I started programming again to place information onto my charts and my spelling went to hell. I'm thinking that it might be the abbreviations and pseudo-words I use for memory variables and the...

Must you know how to program?

I think a lot of the comments are correct even though they sound contradictory. Backtesting is just that - testing using back-data. It won't guarantee a future outcome. On the other hand, programming can enforce a mental discipline, because if you can't codify it (or pseudo-code it), you...

Obama speaks at GOP retreat and does a Q&A, but FOX only shows snippets?

I saw the whole thing (eventually) and Obama's going to have his hands full dealing with...Pelosi! That guy who worked with him in Illinois gave him a real lowdown on Pelosi stiff-arming any Republican input. Obama knew what he was being told was true because he knew the guy from before and...
