Losing Execution Priority using IB TWS

Interesting answer... Though his problem is that priority is NOT maintained on sell order. Only SMART could be cancel/replacing the sell order... Thus losing it's position... to the detriment of the Customer. IF the sell order is a short sale... Why would IB modify it in any way based...

    Payment in lieu of dividend?

I sympathize with the OP... IB takes an unusually hard line on this. My PID went from maybe 2% to 10% when I switched to IB... And this year IB has pushed the PID to about 30% of all dividends paid/received. That's why IB has to be viewed holistically... Because the short position...

Losing Execution Priority using IB TWS

The idea that this would have something to do with Java is beyond ridiculous. That said... I'm not at all surprised that such a bizarre thing is happening. You will probably get nowhere with your inquiries becuse: (a) some guy in a tech support phone bank... Is not likely to know much...

WTF is it going to to take to get the security device from IB?????

IB views LOCKING a Customer out of his account... In effect shutting down someone's business... For ANY reason... As something that should happen on a regular basis. It's a very good lesson for the Customer... To teach that IB is all-powerful and above the law.

POLL: What is the Most Important Thing in Trading?

The MOST important thing is HEDGING to be close to MARKET-NEUTRAL... Something that is rarely discussed here... So no wonder it's not even on the list. It's the only way a trader can be IN CONTROL... As opposed to being tossed about by the market.

    IB Security Device

** Your post is misinformed and misleading **. The Opt-Out Form basically signs ALL your rights away. No lawyer would ever let you sign the IB Opt-Out form... It looks like something done on the back of a napkin... In fact... the form is so discriminatory that it's very likely illegal.

    Neiderhoffer

You are right... no chance. But his behavior is unethical and irresponsible... And the fact that he is a serial offender in this regard... Should be the basis for a civil lawsuit. He does not even have the most rudimentary risk engineering in place... Because going BUST every 5 years...

What does regular trading hours mean

A 50,000 average volume stock... actually trades very efficiently 90% of the time. Price spikes in my stocks... Which have NOT been chosen randomly... Are usually a sign of market inefficiency... And, very selectively, using professional judgement... An opportunity to exploit. You need...

The lesson here... Is to apply critical analysis to Monster Ego Celebrity Traders. Instead of writing... Ego driven tomes about himself that are devoid of useful facts... Victor should have learned how to hedge a Portfolio 40 years ago. I'm being very serious here: For reckless money...

What does regular trading hours mean

I do the opposite... I trade about 400 stocks that average 5K to 100K daily volume... And probably trade 50 to 100 of these on any given day. The volume adds up. Nobody gives a sh*t about these stocks... Including Specialist or MM firm... Which views these issues as a pain in the butt...

    POLL: Who is your Broker?

Good poll. I've always suspected... That in some sort of uber-Machiavellian way... IB is the real owner of ET... And this is not really about trading at all... But a front for something far more sinister.

netbank goes under due to mortgage defaults

You must be illiterate. Greenspan just gave a lengthy interview on Time cover story... And basically says "bubbles cannot be stopped or controlled... only managed to some degree". I would expect Greenspan to know more... About the markets and human nature... Than the 80,000 Pretenders...

I don't see anything in your post... That would disqualify you from a successful trading career. But I see some positive traits: (1) Ability to critically analyze your behavior. (2) You are not a gambler... you respect risk. The idea that Pro traders are gamblers... is a MYTH. 99% of...
