Update Limit Prices Feature on IB's Baskets

The Update Limit Price feature on basket orders is working differently today than yesterday. In fact, I don't think it is working at all but my experience may be unique because I use it to update what are called limit prices on relative orders whereas most people probably use limit or market...

ib market orders on the open

This has been my experience for orders that are, in fact, executed. A fair number of my opening limit buy orders, however, that have a limit price at or above the open do not get executed. Has that been your experience? I have spoken with IB support and sent them several days of my orders...

    NASDAQ Limit On Open Orders

I use Limit on Open orders on NASDAQ from time to time. When I get executed, I get the opening price or pretty near it. Quite often, however, my buy limit order is at or above the opening price and I don't get filled. That happens less often when I am selling on the open. That is, when my...

    IB relative order

This is a very minor point relating to relative orders but I think it may be (or might have been) a bug in TWS. A few weeks ago I had my default order type set to relative orders. I decided to close out my last few positions of the day by using the TWS command to close all positions. I...

    IB extra zeros

I have two questions. First, will stocks selling below $2 be displayed with 4 places after the decimal tomorrow? Second, I believe relative orders with 0 aux. price are incrementing in .0001 increments. As a result, the adjusted orders are being rejected by the exchanges because of the...

Does IB take responsibility? An amazing story

Would it be possible to provide a ten minute warning before auto liquidation begins? I, for example, use some limit on open orders and I don't know before the open how many are going to get filled. As a result, I have to be extra conservative to avoid auto liquidation. If I knew I had ten...

    Trading from a Cruise Ship

I did it on a Carnival ship in the Caribbean two years ago next March. I paid several hundred dollars for a package of access time. I set up my home system every morning using a remote access program (vnc with radmin as a backup) and checked the trades before the close every day. I had an...

Margin Call on an IB IRA account (Need Suggestions)

I agree with this but I am not sure I understand the point you are making. My point is that the maximum amount on which a penalty is computed under 4973 appears to be limited by the value of the account as of the end of the year. Under my understanding of the facts here, the value would be...

Margin Call on an IB IRA account (Need Suggestions)

I have not read this whole thread so I may be duplicating what someone else has said. I would just like to add a minor point. According to Internal Revenue Code Section 4973 the penalty for an excess contribution to an IRA is computed in the following way: "...there is imposed for each...

    Stock Index w/ no risk?

As I understand it, for at least some of these products, the accretion on the zero coupon bond is currently taxable to U. S. citizens and residents regardless of whether distributions are made. These investments, therefore, may be more appropriate for tax exempt entities such as qualified...

    IB's Latest TWS is up

One thing that appears to be fixed in the latest release is the "order-->update limit price" feature that I mentioned somewhere back in this thread.

    IB's Latest TWS is up

I use the "Order-->Update Limit Prices" feature of TWS quite often. I have tried it quite a few times on the latest release and the demo and it does not appear to work so I have gone back to the prior version where it works fine. IB Customer Service sent me a note suggesting the problem...

    Options Software: OptionStar and Hoadley.net

The Hoadley software provides an add-in for Excel. Once you have installed the add-in, you have access to various functions that compute historic volatility, implied volatility, etc. from a set of data. Some of the functions automatically access Yahoo data (and perhaps other data) for free...

Does anyone else have a problem with IB TWS

I am not sure if my experience is relevant or not. I submit many orders simultaneously using baskets. My system typically froze for a while during the submission process. I unchecked the box next to configure->misc->audit trail and the problem went away.

    Market to Market election

I think that, if a trader makes a mark-to-market election, his or her trading gains and losses are treated as ordinary rather than capital. As a result, I think that $3,000 limitation does not apply.

    trader status tax question

Assuming you are trading equities rather than regulated futures contracts, foreign currency contracts, non-equity options (and a few other things), I believe a trader is deemed to be in a business which generates capital gains and losses for federal income tax purposes. It is possible that the...
