    Remote ECHO Traders

Instaquote?? I'd rather trade with REDI+ using 5-second delayed quotes...without a mouse, in the dark, and upside down hanging from my little toe. Instaquote is poop!! ...the most limited and user-unfriendly platform in the business. My experience was that their quotes were sometimes...

    Exposing one Donald Bright

In today's markets EVERYBODY needs quick order-entry. If you miss even one trade a day because you're 1/4 second too slow your effective commission rate goes up. Depending on how you trade listed stocks it could go WAY up!

    Financial data about pro firms

Just as important is a firm's risk management. I've heard of traders losing hundreds of thousands with far less in their accounts--all while the managers in charge of risk fell asleep at the wheel. This has reportedly happened several times at a firm you are intimately close to. :)

Why would you want to give up a "generous" amount of your profits? What is the definition of "negligible?"

    Misc. Fees at Prop firms?

Don, Thanks for ignoring my questions. On another note, the T-1 version of Hyperfeed has probably the least "middleman" delay of any data source out there--25 milliseconds or so--i.e. negligible. That's because they are a tier one vendor with the best connectivity to SIAC and Nasdaq in...

    Misc. Fees at Prop firms?

That WSJ article refers to eliminating data revenue sharing plans. It has nothing to do with standard ECN liquidity rebates. And what about my previous post? Seems you overlooked it.

    Misc. Fees at Prop firms?

You've alledged many times that the trading platform is a "small part" of trading and now, after some critical comments by others, you say that Bright has the best technology out there. Am I the only one that sees through this? What makes REDI+ the "best technology" and why should technology...

    Redi Plus

REDI pluses: Automatic Updates (even though updates are few and far between); the clock is in exchange time REDI minuses: Overloaded servers; rude and abrupt support personnel; plain jane interface; laughable charting; really annoying intra-day pop-up messages; limitted hotkey functionality

    Self Clearing and Pricing

You generally need 50+ million shares a month to get under 1/4 cent for clearing. If you know a firm that offers significantly less please prove me wrong. Execution fees, pass-throughs, overhead, technology costs, SEC fees, etc etc etc are all extra....middle man or no middle man. What are...

    Self Clearing and Pricing

Oh this is too good to pass up: "GHansen says we have a "piss poor execution system"....that is just plain silly, and has only been brought up by firms who could not qualify for Redi Plus" Don you have to be kidding. You're telling us that the only people who don't like REDI+ are...

    Self Clearing and Pricing

No one (including IB and PD) offers a straight 1/2 cent commission because it would cut into their margins far too much and leave no room for the "value-adds." A great platform, tools, quotes, support, etc. all cost money, and I've already outlined a BD's costs for you. The math is simple...

    Self Clearing and Pricing

Chas, You're right, it cost's no where near 1/3 cent to clear a trade...IF: 1. The trade is, or an average of the tickets in that symbol are, over 400-600 shares; 2. The clearing firm is providing only bare-bones clearing (i.e. no other services); and 3. Your firms risk profile is...

    Self Clearing and Pricing

Clearing is typically 1/4-1/3 cent per share if you are a new firm--assuming you have the required capital, background, and licensing. .0015 if you're an established firm. Execution, pass-throughs, and all other related per-share costs are EXTRA. For a non-billable NYSE order a big firm pays...

    Net Capital requirements for broker/dealers.

Don, With all due respect, you will always "beat this to death" because your mission on Elite Trader is to drive business to Bright Trading by creating a perceived critical importance with respect to net capital, balance sheets, etc, etc. Once you admit this as your modus operandi we won't...

    Net Capital requirements for broker/dealers.

We have a private JBO BD with 1.25 mil in cap (we don't compete with Bright so save the Bright commercial :) ). Our risk is very controlled and we never have to worry about a spread blowing up in our faces, a big pair trade going awry on multiple traders simultaneously, or a trader riding a...

    Choose Bright or Echo?

Don...FYI: IB's rates are only 1 cent a share for the first 500 shares, and 1/2 cent thereafter. And they include ALL passthroughs. "High-end"??? Not. By the way how often do you trade NYSE stocks on regional exchanges? I would bet not very often. Can you even access regional exchanges...
