    Bright Trading

I just split a rib on this one. That's entertainment! Do you think the Nevada Gaming Commission would approve slots in a brokerage firm's crapper? Don, have you asked them??

    Echotraders

Supposedly EchoTrader II is just a repackaged version of Instaquote. If so, don't bother. It's got the worst user interface in the business after VTS.

What's the logic of the capital requirement at a prop firm?

How the heck did you deduce this theory? I think it's safe to say that reputable firms with higher capital requirements are more stable and offer lower risk to ALL of their members. Firms that let you trade on a shoestring are not the kind of places that I would entrust my money with...

Is there software that can do this?

Cron tech is God awful. I tried Stock Watch Pro on two separate PCs and the damn thing wouldn't run without locking up every 3-5 minutes. Moreover, the windows flicker, the charts display bad data, the filters are sloooooooooow, and their only source of support is email--which took 1-2 days to...

    Real Tick Scanner/Filter

First Alert used to be a decent program. Unfortunately the company's insistance on creating new features before the bugs are worked out of the old ones has really pissed off a lot of people. I also now hear word that their funds have begun to run low...not suprising considering the recent...

    Lynx Capital Partners

If a trader in company "B" loses more money than what's in his account, the firm takes the hit. Depending on how established the sub-LLC is, the firm itself may absorb some or all of those excess losses. Some fly-by-night sub-LLC's pass along ALL excess losses to the other members. This would...

    Remote ECHO Traders

I couldn't disagree more. I know dozens of remote traders and, in general, they lose their connection maybe once every 4-6 weeks, and then only for a few minutes--hour tops. Most have redundant ISP's so it's not even an issue.

    Remote ECHO Traders

This is one of the more senseless comments I've seen on this site. Reputable remote firms take very good care of their remote traders. Losing even one remote trader can cost a firm $15-$50,000 a year--or more.

Gr8trade + Protrader: Good, Bad, Ugly?

This is an ongoing myth that needs clarification. Direct NQDS and SIAC feeds are typically no more than 30 milliseconds faster that a T1 Hyperfeed connection. That is a completely imperceptible difference. In fact, I've compared Watcher (which uses NQDS data and is considered by many to be...

    White Pacific clearing

Capital base, technology, experience and longevity are what counts. The fact that White Pacific is an NSCC member is meaningless in and of iteself. The fact that they aren't even listed in Clearing Quarterly is much more telling.

    anyone heard of these guys

"These guys"? Is that the name of a new firm or something?
  12. G

    White Pacific clearing

Whoever they are, they are not an established clearing firm. They aren't even listed in Clearing Quarterly's records of correspondent clearers. Be very very careful when considering firms that use bottom-tier clearing firms. These clearers just don't have the capital to take exposure hits (a...

A question for RTharp about Echo SanDiego.

Thank you for wasting my time. You're posts are awfully helpful. If I wanted to walk in an Andover branch to get the answer I wouldn't have posted the question here. This is a discussion forum where details talk louder than dime-a-dozen superlatives. And correct me if I'm wrong but you...

A question for RTharp about Echo SanDiego.

No offense, but are you unclear on the meaning of the word "specific"? "Much better" is not a specific benefit of the software. It's just an ambiguous term used for promotional purposes. What people want to know is WHY it's "much better." Read through the countless old threads on what...

A question for RTharp about Echo SanDiego.

Brilliant deductive logic my friend! ;) NO. I never traded there--or got burnt. I just know Blackwood Pro software and recognized the resemblance to Andover's supposedly "proprietary" software. If you've never heard of Blackwood you must not have been reading Elite Trader very long...

A question for RTharp about Echo SanDiego.

Are there any SPECIFIC benefits (besides decent rates) that you get at Andover that you don't get anyplace else? I can tell you that if their software is based on Blackwood's software, I'd rather use (and I thought I'd never say this) REDI+. If you're going to tout the firm, please be...

    Starting at Echo vs. WorldCo

Robert, Hammer appears to have (at least partly) the same interface as Blackwoods old software. Are you SURE its proprietary? Blackwoods software was average at best. Is there anything Andover's relabeled version can do better? If so, what?

    Starting at Echo vs. WorldCo

Hammer software looks exactly like Blackwood's old software. Is it? Any do you know what Lynx Capital's web address is? Thanks...

earning interests on shorts -> Don

Badmouth me all you want Don. But I didn't hear you disputing my facts or answering my questions. Avoiding the truth "just isn't cool" man.

earning interests on shorts -> Don

This is pure B.S. I know for a fact that SLK has offered others short interest rebates without this restriction. And why isn't (wasn't) this 100k minimum disclosed on Bright's rate sheet anyplace??? I talked to some Bright traders about this and they were completely unaware of this "minor...
