    Case Studies in Options Trading

Hey Lobster...IRA's have come along way. Naked puts might not fly in most cases, depending on where your IRA is; many bread and butter or mom & pop run IRA from a bank, etc. is not going to let you do much. On the hand, brokers like ML or optionsXpress offer a bunch of option initiatives for...

    Case Studies in Options Trading

Depends on what kind of spreads you mean -- debit or credit. What degree of risk do you desire or can handle?? A very suitable kind of spread for an IRA coupled with risk/reward would be put credit spreads. In other words, if there is a particular stock you really like or may want to...

    Favorate Movies

hey Trane... (Not mentioned yet) & I think one of the all time greatest action/drama movies much less the 1990's is HEAT w/ Deniro & Pacino. This movie has an unbelievable cast job. THe soundtrack is way out there with the likes of William Orbit & Moby. Michael Manne has an uncanny ability...

    Bullets & Conversions

I can not believe how hard some people think about the logistics of bullets. All you need to know is that you can sell a stock at will with one. A true jem. THere is pretty much zippo on this board about conversions and real life examples of them. -- Right now MMM is trading @ $125ish. If...

    TV commercials prelude stock runups

Has anyone noticed over the years a link between huge individual company stock runups and national advertisement campaigns on tv? Case & point: the latest illustration of this is ebay. About a couple of months ago, eBay launched their huge "Do it eBay" campaign which is kind of humorous. The...

after "gold" my next short is "ebay"

How funny you should mention this. About 8 trading days ago or so....when the Nasdaq had taken a nice little beatin'..... I happened to see a massive block of April 90 calls on Ebay hit my radar for about 6000 contracts......I laughed to myself....I believe the bid/ask was like .20 -...

    spoo spike-o-rama

One other thing I greatly miss from 1999....the last 15 minutes today were so beautiful......I was gazing at CSCO on L2 & noticed a block fly through for 250000 shares @ 13.25 on an uptick above the current ask...........within 5 minutes CSCO popped to 13.40ish....You have to really feel for...

    spoo spike-o-rama

    option commission

depends if you mean prop or retail.... for retailers....the basic flat range of per share contract could be anywhere from 1.50 - 2.00.....some will also tack on an additional premium of say 10 or 25 bucks + the per contract charge.....I believe you will not find cheaper option rates than IB...

    Scalping LU...

Do not make this mistake. Most lay people and morons will come in after dinner time....not following the market all day long....they will see some stock up XX amount of points, or see the range of the day between 5.25 - 5.95......they will say, man you could have bought that thing for $5.25 in...

    Scalping LU...

(this quote is about the funniest thing I have heard all day.....) In any event, its tougher to scalp stocks like LU or DYN, etc. There are so many people lined up on both sides, its hard to tell the direction at any given moment. Even if the ask appears to be getting thinner and bid...

short selling a stock then it splits

should automatically be handled and adjusted by the operation folks with your broker. i think it could take 1 or maybe even 2 whole business days after the effective trading date. Generally speaking, a full service retail broker who is usually one day behind in your account info will take...
