LOL! He wanted you to post the Daily Hottie. This type of misunderstanding might be a clue for you.

If you were to learn / teach someone a programming language?

In what way is Excel (or any spreadsheet for that matter) not Turing complete? I'm curious NetTecture: do you speak to people in the same way you post to them here? If so, how's that working for you?

If you were to learn / teach someone a programming language?

    OK. Define programming language.

If you were to learn / teach someone a programming language?

Yes it is. I use C++, mainly because I learnt C some 20 years ago and it is guaranteed to still be around in another 20 years. I recently went through about half of the new Bjarne Stroustrup Programming book, and I highly recommend it. However, it is not for the faint hearted - you have...

Reality based coin-tosser method that beats 95% of traders in the world.

(Whisky - apologies in advance for this off topic post, but this interesting thread is getting the eyeballs.) Covel is apparently in awe of Seykota et al, which is presumably how Ed likes it. He is clearly not in awe of Hershey, which happens to be how Jack likes it too. What I'd be...

    BWolinsky Trading

Jack, Could you explain this a bit more? I see the market continue to rise after June 2006 until around October 2007. What am I missing that you saw (in hard chart terms, not "end of quant era" type qualitative opinion)? I do recall your audio from around that date. A related question re...

    Iterative Refinement

I wasn't there, but the attached chart may be a clearer representation of what transpired; it logically hangs together at least. <img src=http://elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=2481331>

    Iterative Refinement

At least 3 discernible moves contained within a channel, at all levels or "speeds". The levels or speeds are what we call fractals, because they all exhibit the same movement following the PV relationship. A slow fractal consists of at least 3 faster fractal moves, which themselves each...

    Iterative Refinement

Read this while examining what happened between 10:50 and 11:20. For some reason no one has posted a chart with the pertinent (short) channel annotated.

    Iterative Refinement

I could write a book about outside bars like that. That is an example of the planets coming into alignment, the red barn, a Hershey hinge, an FTT on lower peak volume, an IBGS, a 20 minute coffee break (don't touch!)...

    Iterative Refinement

Thanks for that Ezzy. I look at it this way: until you have p3, the channel (be it a tape, traverse, Channel) is still undefined. So if you have to wait for a 3rd bar (to put in the definitive rtl), you wait for that bar. Hence treating internals as one bar. Using end of bars (regardless...

    Iterative Refinement

Thanks for the posts Ezzy, I tried to find those using Search. I don't think so nkhoi. In both cases (OB and third inside bar) start over from bar 2. Nothing more complicated than that. I think Ezzy's posts above clarify Jack's intent.

    Iterative Refinement

Except Jack says "start over" not carry over the line from the pre-OB bar and he doesn't clone a ltl in his illustration. So that is a disconnect. Thanks for the thoughtful post. The market will indeed let you know if you have correctly identified points 1,3 and 2 of the movement under...

    Iterative Refinement

And who came up with this example originally? I think a misinterpretation of what Jack wrote has crept in. As I read it, he says start over after outside bars.

    Iterative Refinement

Glad you brought that chart up again. Could someone please explain the "taping to outside bars" (numerous examples in Spyder's chart just posted by Ezzy)? It doesn't seem to follow from anything Jack has taught, but appeared one day and was quietly absorbed into the method. Where are...

    increasing, decreasing, continuing and changing

This is my DAX chart for Tuesday, June 2. Annotated up to the end of the long channel, which is dinner time here in Singapore. As you can tell from my volume annotations, I expected more from the channel but it did not make it past P2 - no range expansion. So the second black volume peak...

    increasing, decreasing, continuing and changing

What?! Get access to volume (I pay 12 euros a month or something with IB) or monitor/trade/discuss an instrument where you do have access to volume. Volume is not a "nice to have" it's a pre-requisite.

    How To Read Channels

Jack, Friday's close (and today's pre-market) confirms a new point 3 (long) on May 27, correct? Could you run through how the channel you described above panned out ? e.g. when you knew it was over (FTT), did the channel's sequences complete, when you'd know long was resuming etc.

    Iterative Refinement

I think this is spot on analysis, thanks for pointing me back to Spyder's post. If I can crack it in real time I might be slaloming rather than yard-saling down the hill. To those who still occasionally see "FT3s", this may be the area to focus on - the context of lateral-BO-FBO - "are...
