    Anyone read the Economist??

Yes that British rag with no names of editor and correspondent/writer has some good stuff on economics, if you can withstand their snooty attitude. I love the 'tude! I haven't read it regularly for a while because I've been busy and let my subscription lapse. I still remember a comment from...

    NY Expo add'l session requests?

will the NYC EXPO be advertising on Elite Trader next month or do they advertise here already? We'd love to get them on board as a sponsor. Seems like a natural fit. I've been calling around and have spoken to a couple of people. FYI - the suggestion to have more presentations geared...

    Dual Listing Picks Up Steam

Thanks for chiming in, folks. I was just going to post a thread asking folks what they thought of the dual listing. I'll be watching with interest as well. André

    Looking for wav sounds

I'm looking for ambient trading floor noise. I found a sample of the opening bell, which would work for my project, but the fade out was too short. I'm using for an intro to an interview series. A tape machine or something might work, like old school newsroom. Andre

    Does cooking protect meat?

Be careful about where you get numbers for downer cows. PETA and others notoriously wiggle the figures. They are exceedingly rare. Look at the economics for the livestock owner. I'm no fan of PETA, and I have no qualms eating meat, (but I'll hold off on beef for a while as I'm in Oregon)...

    To the Moderators

As for the violations you don't see, why not? If you can't read the threads in your own forum, then do a search. For example, do a search on "shit". Gee, ten posts today, so far. And who's name pops up most often? You could. Is it simply language that you don't like? Regardless, I...

    To the Moderators

Quote from dbphoenix:You can move this down here if you like, but I intend to report every TOS violation I find right up at the top until the moderators start taking action on them. If that disturbs you, then start moderating. Well, that would be pretty lame. Careful what you wish for...

    NY Expo add'l session requests?

Of course we go to meet with sponsors and develop relationships with vendors who aren't yet. And it's always nice to meet an ET member face to face. But as a trader, I found it helpful to just talk shop with other traders. I don't know anyone face to face who really understands the nature...

    Nyc Expo

price is irrelevant in the quest for the perfect burger. Indeed. Squirrels Tavern in Downtown Corvallis, Oregon, Population 50,000 has the best burger and fries on the planet, in my humble opinion. $4.95. I perfers to wash it down with a pint of local apple cider, when it's in season...

    Tax Chat Today

Just a reminder that we put up the log from the Traders Accounting chat today on Flow-Thru Tax Entities. After the presentation, Traders Accounting had Joe Wishcamper, Esq., Jim Forrester, CPA, and Jim Crimmins, the President of Traders Accounting... all responding to questions. We tried some...

    TickQuest Chat - Trade Simulator

Just a reminder that we put up the log from the TickQuest chat on Practice Trading After-Hours with NeoTicker's new Environment Simulation. One of the comments you hear most, regarding trade simulations, is that they cannot give you an accurate idea of what your fill would be. NeoTicker's...

    Anyone in Austin, TX?

Aww, stop it, Surf. But sort of. Matt is a pal of mine, who happens to be a durned fine musician based in Austin, Texas. And... I put out his first two records. So I do own a piece of the action, so to speak. André

    Baron . . .

An ignore feature was demanded. A tool was given. But it was too extreme, sure you can go back and un-click the option... but what a pain. I just want to see what is causing the fuss this time. So another feature was added, the Just this once button. Now that's not good enough, you...

I need help - Sound Files

Hey, folks... Thought maybe I'd harness the power of our internet community... I'm looking for some sound files of a pit or exchange floor with active traders. I'll be using this as a sound bite for a voice-over introduction. I've found one with the opening bell of the NYSE, and that's not...
