    Would You Trade This System?

thanks for feedback, this is exactly what im looking for. yes i agree things are tight. But my personality is not trend chasing, i have no patience for that. Smaller targets are easier to get. Im not mircro scalping for a couple of ticks though either, my average is around 20 - 25 cents...

    Would You Trade This System?

here is the same system with just 250 fixed share size. I have not looked yet but im almost sure it will be the same profit factors and other stats should be relative. I can post any share size you wish but it will all be relative. It is very much a scalable system. Total Net Profit...

    Would You Trade This System?

Well, im using prop leverage to trade and not retail accounts with just 4x. You can see that worst drawdown was just $17k and this was in 2008 crazy times. Normally it gets no where near that, but even still on a $100k bank i feel a 17% drawdown is not so bad. So i dont feel im using...

    Would You Trade This System?

The timeframes are big enough and not micro scalping or scalping. It averages 3/4 trades a day. The sharpe ratio is low but i don'tuse this stat in my trading, and remember results are not compounded and profits are being withdrawn, if they were compounded sharpe would be higher. Intial...

    Would You Trade This System?

Thats so much for the feedback, really appreciate it and your honesty. A profit factor of 1.28 over 6000 trades based on only maximum of 2500 shares, I feel is not so bad. Thats a huge sample size. Of course i can increase the profit factor if i add another parameter, and have done so...

    Would You Trade This System?

Well in regard to low latency infastructure. Well I feel my timeframe is not scalping or micro scalping. My timeframe is big enough so i do not get these issues i feel. On average my target is 1 of 30 min atr but it does change with volatility. So we are not taking a couple of ticks scalping...

    Would You Trade This System?

I received a couple of pm's stating results are ok as long as it has not been curve fitted. To which i agree completely. Well i dont want to be ultra defensive about my system, as im looking for brutal honesty and debate, but i write the following to address this curve fitting issue...

    Would You Trade This System?

As for multiple symbols, yes this trades multiple symbols with similar results on several hundreds of stocks. I posted SPY because it is the main market symbol and also because i am awaiting the 'portfolio' software in tradestation and right now i can't show an overall equity curve for a basket...

    Would You Trade This System?

I know lescor (a professional trader here on ET) currently long term averages 70% winning days, and 84% winning weeks. And my system gets no where near that. Lescor trades multiple non correlated systems though, so we are talking alot more frequency. If i am able to trade this small edge i have...

    Would You Trade This System?

There is alot of experts here on ET, and i would like to take the chance to put my system forward for some feedback if at all possible. For many years i was a discretion trader and i lost money. This system is backtested but please be assured it has been done absolutely correctly with every...

Extremely simple strategies with > 100% annual return

if you use stocks, there are so many to choose from, so everyday your system should always find suitable candidates to trade. If you trade one symbol, then yes i see how a system's edge may seem to die after a while, but if you use your system then filter to suitable stock on the day the edge...

Extremely simple strategies with > 100% annual return

thanks for posting 10 year. well, for me it has always been my personal goal to find systems that are consistent over the long haul. I can easily find settings that work for a year or two but i always throw them away. My goal is to find a postive expactancy over a long enough sample...

Extremely simple strategies with > 100% annual return

thanks for your reply. So are you saying that if i had a backtested system that was profitable every year upon year going back 10 years without changing the settings, the results would be coincedent?.......I would argue and say it was a clear postive expectancy system and a clear edge if i...

Extremely simple strategies with > 100% annual return

i think you mis understood me. My point was that it is my belief that your system should under go the following and you should post the performance from the following before any judgement should be made wether it is tradeable or not, otherwise there is no point. 1. How ever many...

Extremely simple strategies with > 100% annual return

i dont understand the hype around sharpe ratio........if you truely could replicate 0.72 sharpe over the long haul (10 year backtest year on year profitable), then of course it would be more than tradeable. People can't even manage to find one postive expectancy system in their life time...

Grinding it out, day after day

saying that, you mention that the problem could be the current volatility is making everything too corelated. Which means your trading performs better not just in volality spikes but also when your stocks are mixed in terms of corelation.

Grinding it out, day after day

How will you know when things have turned around?, will it be another volatility shift event?, if so are you concerned for the future if volatility completey drops off? would you be 'smoother off' if you only traded volatility spikes and was in cash the rest of the time? just a thought...
