    Is day trading worth it?

I think the proper trader's mindset is a pre-requisite that most lack. Without this key ingredient, you could fail with a profitable system.

    Is day trading worth it?

During my studies I found great ways to enter, but not necessarily exit, plus I'm a scalper. Considering letting winners run is the prime ingredient of my positive expectancy my solution was to enter like a scalper and scale out like a swing trader. Perhaps it's a cute nick, but it's what...

    Is day trading worth it?

In my very humble opinion all these trade posts and P/L snippets are not representative of one's performance because there is no continuity. For a performance post to have weight one would need to post a continuous and considerable run, including days with no trades to actually obtain...

    Is day trading worth it?

I've read some of your post history to try to understand your anger, but you don't seem to be in the camp that needs trading help, in fact you posted some great calls, albeit you seem to be the swing trading type not daytrader. However, if you are profitable and consistent, as you seem to be...

    Is day trading worth it?

Never had much luck with patterns, because many of them don't manifest as they did in your studies, a lot of morphing and ugliness does tend to happen once they form. A case where practice is different than theory. Kudos to those that can make them work but I had to look elsewhere.

    Is day trading worth it?

I think by killing it he meant "10k per day" average and referring to "students" not mentors. I certainly don't fit that profile.

    How to trade around earnings?

I feel the same way (if I'm swing trading) as I consider FOMC or NFP to be the earnings of US indices. If you are daytrading though, these days can offer improve volatility intraday which is a real blessing for daytraders.

    RM's occasional market calls...

I don't imply anything by this post, but if someone questioned me regarding something related to a past trade or call, I would simply post a screenshot of the entry or exit and end all confusion, it's fast and efficient.

Testing the Engulfing Candle Pattern - Daily

Ability to perform well during low volatility seems to be the real challenge in my experience.

Testing the Engulfing Candle Pattern - Daily

You could study the following: - Pivotal breach by 1 tick - A close below/above the pivot - 2 LLs below the pivot/2 HHs above the pivot Obviously, the old conflict of lesser confirmation better fill or more confirmation worse fill will haunt you. If you want empirical data, this is where I...

Testing the Engulfing Candle Pattern - Daily

Out of curiosity, have you guys studied engulfing candles failures? ie You get an engulfing pattern and it fails immediately.

    How to trade around earnings?

I understand where you are coming from, but I wouldnt feel comfortable going through a 50% drawdown, even if it's a long term position. Depends on the investor.

    How to trade around earnings?

This is a great question, unfortunately I don't think there is a great answer. Earnings are risky, plain and simple. You can either protect yourself and risk not obtaining much from a good run, or you can take the risk, and in contrast get the run. There's also selling covered calls but imo...

    monthly vs. weekly charts

Perhaps this helps, was shared by an experienced trader outside of this site. "I think a chart is a chart, whether its 1min or monthly, but the perception is different because it takes 60 seconds for a bar to close vs 30 days so the bar frequency changes dramatically. If you count the...

    RM's occasional market calls...

Some unmerited hate there, I don't agree with your observation, I feel it has been the opposite. Unfortunately, it's a hateful world.

3D Card + Multiple DVI trading Card

It's good to know that you manage to get to work gtx 760 and nvs 295 using only gtx 760 drivers, nice tip. I suppose a high performance power supply is in order, 800-1000? Thanks for input.

3D Card + Multiple DVI trading Card

Yes, but unless I use two 3D cards (an expensive option), I won't be able to use 4 screens, plus I already own the NVS card. If you can think of anything else, please let me know. Thank you much for your post.

3D Card + Multiple DVI trading Card

I need to build a new system, and the ideal thing would be to build two, one for gaming and one for trading. Unfortunately, budget is limited and I will just build one. I'm not just a trader but also an avid gamer, the video card that I own from Nvidia has 4 display ports but no 3D...
