I can not log in to TWS either visit its website.any one has same issue?

How can you tell which server your IB software is trying to access? I'm in the 'Connections' dialog box, and the bottom-most row under "Market Data Connections" (which is green fwiw) is "zdc1.ibllc.com"...which the page above says is the "Europe" Server?...except I'm not in Europe...

I can not log in to TWS either visit its website.any one has same issue?

I'm logged in to two different accounts on two dif computers (from the same IP), and the green/yellow/red indicators in the Connections dialog box are different, which is kinda weird. I'd have assumed that the same servers would be up/down/connecting. (EDIT: wait, n/m it looks like it's the same...

Are there any Fee-Rebate programs for high volumes of equity options?

Thanks for reply; yes, I figured it had something to do with those VIX / SPX / RUT instruments being perhaps only available through them directly...whereas the fragmented nature of the equity options market I'm guessing means that my orders can be getting filled on any number of smaller...

Are there any Fee-Rebate programs for high volumes of equity options?

I just noticed today that the CBOE has a Frequent Trader Program, but it seems from a glance that it only applies to volume on 3 option instruments: VIX, SPX, RUT (?) My volume often exceeds the 10K / mo threshold for the program, but it's mostly in equity options on individual underlyings. Does...

Q: How can I break down how much of the commissions + fees I pay go to IB vs to the Exchange?

I know how to run Reports that have a "Commissions" (or "Fees", I forget) column, but I believe that just gives the total I'm paying and doesn't give the breakdown of how much stays in IB's pocket vs how much ultimately goes to the exchange. Anyone know how I can produce that breakdown? Is there...

Custom margin limits / margin offsets? Does any broker provide?

I want higher margin allowances than the default settings offered by retail brokerages I've used (IB, TD). My understanding is that some margin limits are required by law, but others are broker-specific and go beyond what is legally required if a brokerage determines that it's protective of...

What is the catch with Robinhood?

Bumping to see if anyone has any intel on this...I'm very interested in custom margin offset services. Is this a standard feature of prime brokerage? Are there any other brokerages or 3rd-party services that -- for either a fee, or for accounts of a certain size -- will override the typical...

Wondering about forced liquidation of long options just before expiration

This is correct. In the Account window, look for that red-highlighted row; indicates that you'll be in a margin deficit post-expiry, which IB won't let happen, so they'll liquidate positions (even long ITM ones) to avoid it. Surprised to hear it's happened as early as 2pm EST though? Maybe I've...

Safely ITM options > brief underlying spike at 4:00pm = now OTM. What happened? Seems fishy.

Yes, while frustrating, I doubted that it was any targeted attempt to screw me in particular; there was a massive # of shares that traded at $17.05 MOC (I only included about 10% of them in the screenshot in the OP because otherwise the image would have been way too tall)...so my tiny little...

Safely ITM options > brief underlying spike at 4:00pm = now OTM. What happened? Seems fishy.

Yes, I'm typically careful about monitoring post-4pm price movements on the underlying when I'm long a near-the-money option...I didn't in this case, because $0.40 seemed so safely ITM; i.e. it would have taken a 3% after-hours spike, which -- while possible -- is highly unlikely on a Friday...

Safely ITM options > brief underlying spike at 4:00pm = now OTM. What happened? Seems fishy.

This is the first time I've seen anything like this in 10 years. Just want to know if this could be the product of some kind of malfeasance since it's so unusual. Was long EQX (Canadian option chain, not US) $17 Sept 18 2020 Puts Underlying was trading safely in a narrow range around $16.50...

What is the catch with Robinhood?

Where can I learn more about these custom margin offsets? I've been trying to get access to something along those lines, but it seemingly doesn't exist at the retail level. Are the custom margin arrangements negotiated on a customer-by-costumer basis? I.e. do you sit down with a prime broker...

Robinhood suicide story -- My educated guess on the trade

Re-read the OP, you're missing something fundamental. OP's saying the short position was Assigned to the RH kid early (a day before its expiration date). The rule you're citing only applies to what happens at 4pm on expiration day.

Robinhood suicide story -- My educated guess on the trade

Why wouldn't his account show the 3 $2,585 Puts he was long? It's plausible that the 300 AMZN shares may not have appeared immediately, if they were the product of the recent assignment and who knows how that was being handled on RH's end, but the 3 x Long Puts had been purchased in the normal...

Robinhood suicide story -- My educated guess on the trade

You don't "get assigned" on long positions. You exercise them, and you choose the timing of when to do so. You don't get a say in when you get assigned on a short position, and sometimes it happens before the expiration date, which was part of the theory/explanation in OP.

    Trade bust fishiness

Great post, thanks for sharing all of that. I have a hundred thoughts; will try to keep it to the most pertinent. "The first problem on the ME is the price range for busts are crazy." On this note, one of the busts I got last year was for such an insignificantly small amount; I think it was a...

    Trade bust fishiness

Just to supplement the above; IB has a page describing their bust procedures, which reads in part (bolding mine): "Customers who receive an execution which they believe to be clearly erroneous and who wish to have IBKR petition the exchange or market center to have the trade cancelled on their...

Yup. Nailed it. It's a telling / unsettling that you so quickly identified it from the general descriptions in my original post...looking forward to hearing what you know about it.

    Trade bust fishiness

I've lost a lot of money recently to a series of trades made near the open that then got busted (reversed) in next couple hours. First off, just how long after market open can a trade be busted? What's been particularly galling about the recent ones is that they were busted nearly 90...

Any data providers (other than IB) offer real-time estimated/model option prices?

Oh, just to be clear, I didn't use the word "buggy" in the OP to mean inaccurate or otherwise not to my liking. But rather buggy = they actually don't populate properly in TWS or via the API. (For illustrative purposes see the attached screenshot: when I activate RTD API formulas for 50 option...
