    USO liquidation?

USO already finished rolling their May position last week. I was referring to the June contract. They will be getting margin calls if it falls to $6.40 but there is no way who ever they clears their trades will wait until that price to start liquidating.

    USO liquidation?

USO does not track the spot price of oil. Unlike GLD, where you are actually buying gold, USO holds futures contracts. It is not the same thing. It was always a shit investment, regardless of price, but here is the real kicker. USO is unable to create more "units" so it is now trading a a...

    US ETF - S & P 500 - A rookie mistake

Unfortunately this is something that I don't have much familiarity with so I don't want to give you wrong information. One thing you can try is using your SIM account at IB to purchase various ETFs. You can then see the effects it has in your currency positions. You can also try contacting...

    US ETF - S & P 500 - A rookie mistake

I think you want CSSPX. My IB ticker lists the exchange as LSEETF. It is less common to hedge the currency when purchasing stocks outside of your local currency.

    US ETF - S & P 500 - A rookie mistake

Low expense ratio, very liquid, reputable issuer (BlackRock). S&P 500 etfs are pretty straight forward so there isn't much to worry about. If you want, put half your investment in the BlackRock's S&P 500 etf and half in Vanguard's. Your initial post wasn't clear. What is the problem with IB...

Is USO a good way to invest long term in OIL?

The performance of USO or any other crude oil ETF vs spot when the market is in contango is shit. Don't listen to what others are telling you, look at the data. Over it's lifetime, USO has fallen 93% while spot WTI is down 67%. During 2008 - 2011, where prices fell and then rose sharply, it's...

How I am investment in Oil

CRUD's first day of listing was 2006/09/22 and had a NAV of 40.57 per share. WTI had a spot price of 59.79. On 2020/04/13 CRUD had a NAV of 3.48 per share. WTI had a spot price of 22.36. Over that time, CRUD has fallen 91% while the spot price of WTI has only fallen, 63%. During a period...

How I am investment in Oil

Past performance is irrelevant here. The oil curve has never been priced the way it is now. Also, just because it tracks the index perfectly less expenses, doesn't mean it tracks the spot price of oil perfectly. Those are two different things. From the prospectus:

How I am investment in Oil

Alright jackass. My whole point is, oil can go to $40 like OP says and he will still make nothing if it does not rise faster than the current curve is predicting. Oil ETFs are short term trading instruments, not investing ones. Read the prospectus.

You will lose money unless spot prices increase by more than 28% between now and when the June contract expires.

A Market on Open order to avoid the bid ask spread?

I mean Sam, the OP. I am talking about SLV. See his post from this morning

A Market on Open order to avoid the bid ask spread?

Just look at Sam's timestamp for today. It shows a trade time of 09:30:12. My time and sales shows the auction went through at 09:30:00.

A Market on Open order to avoid the bid ask spread?

I've had delayed confirmations with IB where the trade notification time does not match up with the auction time in the time and sales. Either way, I really just wanted to point out that you are not going to always get a fill notification at 09:30 or 16:00, regardless of reason.

A Market on Open order to avoid the bid ask spread?

Sam, 2 things. 1 - SLV is a very liquid ETF and had 309,137 shares trade at the opening auction today. You are not going to have an issue with this ETF. 2 - The issue will come into play for illiquid ETFs with little or no opening auction volume. The greater the percentage of volume your...
