    NYMEX membership lease prices?

Hi, Does anyone know where to find current lease prices for NYMEX memberships? CME site shows current buy/sell prices, but I couldn't find lease rates.

Sharpe Ratio as a measure of performance

Sharpe Ratio is an exceptionally poor number for evaluating option strategies, especially for option sellers (since numbers will be hugely inflated). But frankly, there can be no good metrics to be used when measuring option selling "skill". You can't look at monthly returns and distinguish...

    Automated Trading Software

I have used Ninja in entirely automated mode for about ten months, placing about 5000 trades over that time frame. It has a few quirks, and there are certain features that I avoid. But to put it simply: it works, and works very well.

    CL Redux

Pretty tame EIA response. I guess everyone was already off to better things. My CL pit broker on Wednesday didn't even realize it had been rescheduled to today until I mentioned to him.

    CL Redux

Don't forget, EIA in 3 minutes.

    CL Redux

Not the only one. I don't know what's moving the markets the last two days, but it's nothing I like. I hate being thrown around like this, even when EIA isn't in the picture.

    CL Redux

Geesh. Markets are fickle, fickle, fickle today.

Rare arbitrage profit from call vs put prices: explain why not being taken?

No idea; I've never seen it or come across it before this conversation. I can imagine it plays a role for institutional investors (and maybe larger retail) who're putting on a short position and need certainty about borrowing rates + availability. (IB's "daily" indicative rates + hourly...

Rare arbitrage profit from call vs put prices: explain why not being taken?

This topic is irritating enough to me that I actually checked the IB supply of CTIC. If you don't understand how IB handles share-borrowing (and specifically the costs associated with it).. you need to educate yourself. I told you 3 days ago there are numerous threads about this topic...

    OTC futures trading

Hi there, I've learned a lot in the last 6-12 months... I've taken various paths in terms of technology/instruments/exchanges that have taken me far above/beyond what I expected to be doing initially. End result, I am now trading a strategy that I'm pretty excited about (so far). But...

Rare arbitrage profit from call vs put prices: explain why not being taken?

This alternative explanation only makes sense if *everyone* on wall street (and in the City) were planning to hold this hard-to-borrow stock for 12 months for the tax savings. In the real world, where there are 8000 hedge funds and probably 50,000 different institutional investors looking for...

Rare arbitrage profit from call vs put prices: explain why not being taken?

Are you still talking about this? I'm the one that told you in the option forum that put/call parity doesn't hold with hard to borrow stocks. And you need to get over your belief that these stocks are actually available for borrowing at pennies. As far as "reason #2"... even if that...

Upon options exercise leaving you short a hard-to-borrow stock...

And some brokers, like IB, do exactly that. If you're not familiar with the way they price hard to borrow, search on the forum. Some stocks at IB have interest charges as high as 40-50% annualized. Some are still not available period. If your broker doesn't offer that, and also doesn't...

Upon options exercise leaving you short a hard-to-borrow stock...

I seriously doubt you can force your broker to do anything on the basis of what you say is available "on the street". If your broker doesn't want to pay the premium to borrow whatever shares, then your only real option is to change brokers. Options are priced with this real world constraint...

    CL Redux

I sell up to 120 call and put options a month in crude. All strikes are within one sigma of the underlying. I'm not going to talk in detail about how I hedge, but the bottom line is, the less volatile crude is, the better I do. Thursday was actually a decent day for me, but friday stung...

    CL Redux

I'm with HuggieBear. Admit when you got spanked, and move on to hopefully a better day. I really don't share the mindset of those who're out to "catch" paper-traders. I don't see how the potential profits or losses of others affects my bottom line, in any way or shape. I don't need...

    CL Redux

I think most people are behaving reasonably well. This has, in recent months, been one of the better (ie: interesting, informative) threads on this forum. As far as how the thread might get back there... I'd like to point out this is why God invented the "ignore" button.

    CL Redux

BlueGold Capital out of London, supposedly liquidating (forced?), but denying all such rumors. I don't think the sell off at 11:30 AM EST this morning had anything to do with them, though. That was all dollar. Cocoa, sugar, soybean... anything with dollar exposure all took a huge dump at...

    CL Redux

I don't really have a dog in this fight... I do trade a decent amount of crude, but it's 100% systematic and I do next to nothing on a discretionary basis. But it does seem like BPTrader pays excessive attention to other people's trading results, and/or reporting habits.

    CL Redux

Heard completely random rumor from my ICE pit guy that BlueGold out of London might be underwater/troubled, and that this might have been behind some of the extra volatility. Take it with a huge grain of salt.
