    Zen Fire Disaster

The Rithmic + Ninja combination are available from Vision Financial: http://www.vfmarkets.com/futures/services/platforms/ I don't think Vision gets enough attention. In my experience, Vision is *by far* a better FCM than Dorman or RCG. (And yes, I used to be with Mirus clearing RCG).

    Zen Fire Disaster

I've traded with both, and currently trade Rithmic. You are not completely correct. ZenFire is based on Rithmic technology (licensing their software)... but the two companies host their servers (+ datafeeds) separately. I have not had any serious connectivity issues with Rithmic's servers...

    Nikkei Options?

Just to answer my own question... the Yen-denominated options are listed on Osake Stock Exchange. IB supports it using symbol 'N225'. I'll be looking at quotes when the exchange over there opens up later today.

    Nikkei Options?

Hi, NKD looks like an interesting futures contract. It looks like options on NKD really don't trade though (at least not on Globex)... anyone know if options for the Nikkei 225 are available elsewhere?

    Jinxu's Dow E-mini Journal 2010

It's almost overkill to comment on your "good judgment".... I think the jury is already out. I'm not judging you on the basis of your trading, but rather your life decisions as a whole. I'm not here to discuss me, but I will say I practice what I preach. Karma has been very good to me this...

    Jinxu's Dow E-mini Journal 2010

Welcome to the real world, where everyone has "the right" to judge. You're being judged every day by everyone around you, and I suspect you're defensive precisely because you know what most are concluding. I, personally, believe in (non-religious) karma. I have always believed that the...

    Jinxu's Dow E-mini Journal 2010

What have you achieved in life, that justifies you not getting a day job like the rest of humanity?

Senator Shelby says no question that China manipulating currency...

No question China manipulates currency, that's the definition of a fixed exchange rate. The question is whether this is intended to give exporters an advantage. No one was complaining back in 1997 when China held up against a flood of devaluation in Asia, manipulating the yuan against the...

No offense, but you realize this is a contradiction in terms?

Are you affiliated with CME in any way? Just curious.

    generating 1000 $ per month on 150 k investment

Well... keep in mind that you get what you pay for, just like shopping for a "cheap" stock or bond. Any property with a cap rate of 15% probably has serious vacancy issues, deferred maintenance, etc, etc, etc, etc. Considering the amount of time I would have available to put into an...

    generating 1000 $ per month on 150 k investment

Loan = leverage... so the same risk/reward applies to leverage here, just as it does in trading. Higher reward but higher potential risk. Commercial real estate is typically done with 3 or 5 year fixed loans (amortized over 30 years). Rates are higher than residential, but not much. Keep...

    generating 1000 $ per month on 150 k investment

I'm assuming with a proper loan, say 70% LTV = ~$500k property. Even here in California, I can find a 6-10 unit for $500k ($60k-$80k/unit). In other parts of the country, I'm sure it'd be even easier. My site of choice for commercial property: http://www.loopnet.com. Here are a few...

How much size is too much?

Haha, I'm not too distracted by the topic... That said, I've had several authentic fund raising folks tell me they're not interested in the fund unless my capacity is up to $1 bb (currently just $3mm).

    'Discretion' in discretionary trading

No one knows with ANY kind of certainty. Very informed people thought we'd have rudimentary but authentic artificial intelligence 20 years ago... but now they believe we are further than ever. The current thinking is that we need quantum computing before we have the ability to even start...

    'Discretion' in discretionary trading

Yes, absolutely, there are various examples of human endeavor in which we can't quantify rules for success. Can you design analytical rules for describing beauty? How about analytical rules for composing music? Can we design an artificial Mozart? What was his secret sauce? I'll give...

    'Discretion' in discretionary trading

Can you write a program to systematically "select" music likely to become a hit? Can it perform at the level of a Grammy winning music producer?

    generating 1000 $ per month on 150 k investment

Probably best advice yet. Don't get a single family home... Get a small 4-10 unit complex, find a competent management company (unless you're extremely handy), and just sit back. In my part of town, CAP (roi basically) rates were 6% three years ago, but now 9.5% CAP very common.

How much size is too much?

Thanks for all the feedback. Just to be clear, I'm not HFT or scalping. I'm mostly ok distributing trades over time in most cases (flash crash aside). I'm more concerned about affecting price (versus what I'm seeing now) due to collective trade volume. This is all just hypothetical...

How much size is too much?

Any rough metrics out there, as to when our size might get too large for a market, and fills are seriously affected? Right now Im a goldfish, trading 0.01% of daily volume. Could I eventually put on trades that are roughly 2-5%, 10%, 20% of average daily volume all in the same direction, but...
