    Trader P/L 2005

To keep with a one month tradition, here's my July stats. Kind of disappointing compared to last month, but it's a living. Adding $1k for comm rebates puts me around $8500.

What percent of traders are consistantly profitable 5Y minimum

Truth is nobody knows. I know a few guys including myself who fall into this category, but realisitally my best guess is somewhere between 1-15%.

    What's Your Worst Months

    Ditto. Misery loves company.

Yeah $1k/day is only $250k/yr. Why bother?

I know Lescor can/will defend himself, but I can attest to the fact that he has put more hours into tweaking OPG than anyone else is willing. He has put in the time, and is being rewarded. The reason I haven't traded OPG in a couple years is because I haven't been willing to put in the time so...

    Ok Ok what edge

This is one of my old posts about edges... There are two kinds of traders imo. The first are those who find an "edge" or "niche" where they know consistent money can be made. These are usually the prop traders (vs. retail) on ET. For someone to consider a niche to be borderline illegal...

I agree, there was no reason to be buying up there unless they were covering shorts. I feel sorry for those who were short before the news broke, but not those speculating in the 80's.

I know it would never happen, but look at the move that PHS had yesterday. How many traders got blown out yesterday because PHS didn't let the exchange know to halt the stock for news pending first? At the very least the SEC should impose a fine against companies that don't let exchanges know...

SIE took about $2k from me on the PHS news yesterday. News announcements should be made pre or post market imo.

I can't get to it either.

Trading for me is knowing where a stock is going to go in the next few minutes. 5 years ago a stock like JNPR could move $2 in 3 mins...now I am happy to get $.25 on any trade. I use the open book, and futures to gauge my exit and scale out accordingly. ETF's are very tough to trade. SPY...

    Trader P/L 2005

I've been trading the same style for years now so unless I get on the wrong side of news I usually don't lose money. It just takes experience and a lot of "screen time". I know most of the stocks I trade since I trade each of them almost every day. My position size is 1k to 3k depending on...

I just play very high probability setups, no OO's at this time although I am currently getting an OPG program created. Not sure of the % winners, but the 80%+- is about right. Keeping losers small is key.

Yesterday was just a good day because the Fed got the market to move more than the average day. My trading is 80%+ automated entries so I didn't do much different. Yes, the numbers are net of comms. I posted the left side of the blotter to include all fees. (ET won't let me post the entire...

I haven't bothered posting daily results here, but since i'm beyond bored today here's my June blotter. Not impressive compared to some of you guys, but overall a decent month.

lynx capital and prop trading in general

Take the training and pay 1.2 cps for a while. Then switch to Genesis and pay .3 cps or lower if you do any size. 1.2 is a rip off, but maybe the training will be worth it.

Nasdaq Busts and my $11,000 story

There is no foolproof way to avoid this, but if you ever get a fill that seems too good to be true just don't close it out until a couple hours later. Sometimes I will wait an hour, then close half of the position and wait until just before the close for the rest.

Who gets all these fess and commissions?

The world depends on middle men in almost every industry. Honestly a perfectly efficient electronic market would be extremely hard to extract money from so be careful what you wish for.
