Proper Paradigm For Successful System Development

I would first ask yourself what type of trading you are interested in. Do you like high volume scalping, or low volume trend following or breakout type stuff? Then look at the daily movers and see which stocks would have been good for that kind of system today. Then see if you can find the...

    NYSE Specialists in electronic world???

Agreed...after 4+ years making a living off trading solely on price improvement I ditched NYSE a couple months ago. Good fills still happen occasionally but they even when they did I couldn't get a fill. Their abuse is worse than ever, but I would never wish for them to go fully electronic...

    NYSE specialist

I always thought your clearing firm may find it later and stick you with a bad position so I was told to tell my broker about it immedaitely so they can break it. I've done that a number of times on smaller fills that I just don't worry about but with 10k I would definately be concerned.

Here's the month of August. For my system I think it will have been the slowest month of the year. Overall not bad considering...

Why Do People Trade when the Failure Rate is So High?

Failure rate for restaurants is just as bad but people do that right?

For those that make 4 or 5 grand a day net

I'm the opposite, actually in the 30-50% win rate range but winners are far bigger than losers. But then again I am not even close to $5k/day. Many ways to skin a cat whatever that means.

Help Me With A Trading Question Please

Most of those guys trade prop and get a K-1 which just tells the IRS what your net income was. When you are a retail trader then you have to send your actual statements along with any electronic record keeping.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to make money in the markets

a brand new trader, This is not meant to be mean spirited... That was a pretty high-and-mighty post for someone who's been posting for 6 weeks, and is most likely not yet making much money if any trading. I can see that you're a smart guy but you're a bit cocky about things and that can...

Trader P/L 2006 Questions and Discussion

Before that thread existed there were daily posts asking if people actually made any money in this profession. Now when guys ask that you just point them to the thread. It can also serve as an inspiration to traders at every level (except maybe RM's level). Those are the reasons I choose to...

It is IMPOSSIBLE to make money in the markets

Good post but... It's easier for Ripley to ignore posts from profitable traders so don't expect much response. If he can't do it no one can.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to make money in the markets

For the record, I know i'm small time compared to a number of guys on ET, but most of them don't seem to want to talk about it. I get enjoyment showing the naysayers that it can be done with some effort and determination.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to make money in the markets

What do you consider worthwhile? If you count six figures average with never having a losing month more than -$3k in 6+ years then count me in. At least I think I exist. Nitro thanks for the props!

    Trader P/L 2006

It's been a few months since I posted on here...I used to just post one p&l blotter at the end of the month. When my main strategy died a few months back my blotters got pretty damn boring (and kind of depressing honetly). I'm now back in the groove with a whole new strategy. So here's July...

    the hardest thing about trading...

Gotta love guys handing out trading advice after two weeks of trading. "Seems the best I could find for my small start-up account of $3000." 7-25-06 Ahhh ET sometimes...

It is IMPOSSIBLE to make money in the markets

You seem to think good traders are lucky. This is my 8th straight profitable year. I have not had another job in 8 years. My wife doesn't have to work, our car was paid for in cash etc etc. Of course you have to adapt to the market to keep your edge, but any good trader can do that...

It is IMPOSSIBLE to make money in the markets

You need to get out of the business...it's clear you have no idea what trading is all about. Plenty of guys here including myself make six figures a year consitently. If that's losing then I would love to be a winner.
