Is there a way to capture missed gains on a covered call if the underlying skyrockets?

Selling OTM Put Spreads would be better. He owns the stock - so he is bullish. :)

cash settlement options are ITM, what next?

The nasty side of options - When to close the position? Damned if you do, damned if you don't - in other words you always run the risk of missed gains or locking in losses prematurely whenever you close out a position. :)

Is there a way to capture missed gains on a covered call if the underlying skyrockets?

Correct ........ And it's the deal-breaker when it comes to Covered Calls. The premium just isn't worth it. Same thing with Debit Spreads, that short option might come back and haunt you. :)

    Covered call mechanics

I wouldn't sell Covered Calls on a stock you plan on holding for 10 years. As for the rest of your question it's just a matter of accepting the outcome of the trade. It should make no difference to you if the stock gets called away or it doesn't - otherwise don't sell Covered Calls, or...

What's the fastest you moved money out of a Brokerage you thought was going to be great?

And if you have $3,000+ to deposit with TD Ameritrade you can take advantage of this Trade commission-free for 60 days offer. Not really commission-free though - they only waive the $9.99 flat fee. :)

What's the fastest you moved money out of a Brokerage you thought was going to be great?

IMO ........ TD Ameritrade's commissions are not high. And you can't beat the no-minimum new account size vs IB's $10,000 minimum. :)

    WTW

One thing is for sure .......... A big stock move will bring it to the attention of ET'rs, and it will be featured in a thread - too late for a good discussion. My prediction? This thread will die a quick death to be replaced by the next shooting star or plunging meteorite. :)

Legal to sell covered calls on company stock you own?

RE: Insider Trading I see some posts regarding "Insider Trading". Why would someone with access to nonpublic information about a company sell CC? They would be selling or buying shares/options. Covered Calls would be useless. :)

Legal to sell covered calls on company stock you own?

Q: Legal to sell covered calls on company stock you own? It shouldn't be illegal - think about what you are doing. You are capping any upside potential AND still exposed to all the downside risk. Why would you do that? If you want income sell the shares. :)

NFLX earnings - The fun begins October 14

The Oct30 120.00 calls are only $0.42 - this week would be a good time to enter. Do the math if AAPL hits $130.00 after earnings next week - all time-high was $134.00 :)

NFLX earnings - The fun begins October 14

Wakey Wakey Time to wake this thread up and get the ball rolling. This Thursday you have GOOGL, AMZN and MSFT all very close to their all time-highs. Will earnings propel them further? IMO ........ YES 1 or 2 strike OTM QQQ weekly options would be a good choice. :)

As far as I know IB allows one free ACH withdraw per month - they did a few years ago perhaps it has changed now. IMO ......... Once a month withdraw is more than enough, and I see no barrier in the 3 days or so for access to the funds. Another choice is to link your trading account with your...

    Stocks vs Options

IMO ...... The risk of Stock vs Options has to be compared in the amount needed to open the position - not the value of the underlying. Which is more risky - 1 or 2? 100 INTC shares x $33.17 = $3,317 10 INTC Nov20 30.00 calls at $3.30 = $3,300 I would say #2 is far riskier than #1. :)

    INTC 1000 shares x $33.17 = $33,170 10 INTC Nov20 30.00 calls at $3.30 = $3,300 Is that a good comparison - the 1000 shares to 10 option contracts? I don't think so but I can't quite put my finger on it yet. :)

    Stocks vs Options

I don't see how the options are less risky than the stock position. I wouldn't mind seeing an example with real quotes. :)
