Question from someone who know absolutely NOTHING about programming

C and C++ were my native languages. I have dozens of books. Windows or Linux? The Horton book is good for C++ on Windows. There are open source trading software development projects on the web. but some broker API might be the best even for learning , since the hard part (low-level...

Question from someone who know absolutely NOTHING about programming

I am programming C# with the IB API. It has worked out very well for me. I had intended to port it (C#) to C++ for performance , but the C# is doing great ... handling 100 stocks, doing scanning, auto watch for trends and then popup the orderscreen or do automated buy, stop-loss, sell as I...

What does everyone do for streaming news?

I've been day trading for 3 months (many years very active investment trading before that) .. I find at least 50% of my trades have some news involved. It often takes longer than I expected to effect the market, but very often I see the direct relationship ... using IB news, Benzinga, Bloomberg.

The TREND is your friend.. The biggest lie ever!

I always have the history chart in one window, 1 hour, 5-min and 1-min in others... I do lots of momentum trading ... couldn't make decisions without the 1-min (or even 30-sec) displayed. But I'm online watching it all everyday. I have been trading (day and swing) for about 3 months, easing in...

Experienced software developer - Ideas wanted!?

    >>I want to wear occulus gear and see the market, positions, orders all around me. I want to be able to motion my hands and buy/sell/cancel. I haven't seen anyone do this. I buy and sell stocks and can bring up charts and stats with speech recognition, the buys/sells are created from...

    recommend day trading chat rooms?

I did find 6-8 threads ,but they are all outdated or don't describe what I'm looking for.. I hadn't thought about it, but a audio channel would be enough, (except that we couldn't pop up charts , but everyone has that, so just the contract name would be enough) I'm looking to share , maybe...

The TREND is your friend.. The biggest lie ever!

thanks for sharing the wisdom of experience. I'm a few months into fulltime day (& swing) trading. I find, It is easiest to let a program , some automated trading, handle the trend skimming (I assume most trade workstation software does that) , sees the trend , buys with a tight stop loss (and...

Why Only 10% of Stock Traders are Successful (and 90% Fail)?

    1. Trade & risk management. 2. Practice (paper accounts) and experience. 3. Methods and some system to one's approach. I have been full-time day trading for about 3 months now. I lost about $900 in the first 7-8 days (some due to mechanical errors).. now I've been profitable every week since...
