    Latest Broker Ratings...Is A Joke

I would use a different word than "rigged" but, in essence, I agree with the point. One or 2 dedicated posters can skew the rating either direction pretty heavily. The important thing is all the "negative" reviews are still there. So, it's up to a trader to make up their mind regarding which...

    Latest Broker Ratings...Is A Joke

I completely disagree that reviews should be more atively modrated than they are now. (Reviews consisting of a single swear word and the like are being removed by moderators currently as we don't see any of those.) The spirit of this Web-site is one needs to think for themselves and separate...

POLL: All else being equal, do you prefer looser protective stops or higher leverage?

Looser stops without a shadow of doubt. It doesn't mean I would actually use the full "looseness" available.... However, 1) the stop shouldn't be dictated by where you hit the margin call, or the levelrage is too high; 2) after a trade is stopped you still want to be able to continue...

    adav disad of going offshore?

Also remember, there is the actual fund and the fund management company. They don't have to be registered in the same jurisdiction. Further, fund management company may actually exist as a few entities. Normally, at least one of the entities is registered onshore so as to simplify employment...

    adav disad of going offshore?

As long as the scale of legal fees and running costs is not an issue, you just create an onshore "wrapper" fund for US investors. Foreign investors would invest in the offshore fund and US investors would invest in the onshore "wrapper" fund.

    adav disad of going offshore?

If as a person you set up a wholly owned company in Cayman Islands, you may be liable for personal income tax on all of the company's profits even though the company itself doesn't pay any tax. The same goes for wholly owned subsidiaries of US companies. Although large corpoarations may find...

    Why trade shares

Assuming the question is serious... As long as these are not the main source of income for thw individual... In this respect, financial spread-betting is equated to gambling. Wins in poker are tax free but if you play poker for living you may hear from the taxman. This restriction is teh reason...

POLL: Are you troubled more by losing trades or decent moves missed by your method?

I have to agree here. Missed trading opportunities are much beter than realised losses.

Debt Economy vs. Real Economy…no so different……

This effect is spread far outside America and has nothing to do with consumption being fueled by debt. 50-100 years ago it took many days of people's work to produce a chair or a car or a fridge. These items were somewhet luxurious and, given the associated cost, were ment to last for ages...

    My backtested daily P&L

The strategy trades only 68 days out of 120. I presume it does only 1 trade on most days when it actually trades at all. It has very high Sharpe ratio of about 7. Given the small number of trades I would assume the strategy is over-optimized.

Trading contest: only 5.2% were profitable

The only meaningful rewards go to the 10 most profiatble traders in the competition. Collecting the $20 reward for being just profitable requires opening account with the broker that runst the competition and depositing funds larger than the prise. So, for most participants, it's either...

    Yes or No

Wrong. Because of the commission and bid/offer spread. Let's assume you trade a lot and your entries and exits are random. You always trade the same size. In the ideal world the total profit and loss of this trategy is likely to fluctuate around zero for some time. However, because of...

Have you ever blown up your trading account?

Yes, the question was for real. It's not educational or motivational to read about people who have gone from success to success without overcoming any obstacels. Such people either have been exceptionally lucky or are hiding something. Reading about people who succeed in a profession by...

    How to sit on winners

I second every point of this advice. Regarding scaling out, if you close part of the position at a profit and move stop-loss to break-even or very small profit, you have effectively a "free" trade. There no downside any more, only upside. Remember that watching substantial profit evaporate...
