There are certain price levels which are important. How do you decide what course of action to take at those levels?
For instance if a stock is in an uptrend and reacts down to an important level what factors do you watch to decide if that level will hold, or if that level may collapse and...
Ok...............weird...............now data from 4/12/10 on both online charts I checked earlier from 2 separate companies is gone.
They have 4/9/10 and then 4/13/10. 4/12/10 has gone into the Twilight Zone. I'm going to bed. I think I'm losing it.
Why do all the charts online show that the Mini NQ went over 2000 yesterday, the 12th, but my NinjaTrader chart shows a high of 1998?
What am I missing?
Is there somewhere to find free NQ futures data which I can download to Excel?
For instance I would like to know the average range that the NQ moves each day. Pretty simple, but I can't find the data.
I agree. The slow days are just brutal, really test your patience. As far as buying the 12th up day in a row; I kept having that thought creep into my head which is what increased the odds of another up day in my mind.
You have to figure that every amateur out there was looking for shorts...
The chart preceding the break on Friday had nice, clean price moves compared to the mess of a chart today preceding the move. It's hard to describe, seems ever harder to notice it in real-time. Part of the art of trading I guess.
Yeah.........I thought the same thing. I kept wondering if the market was closed at times or if it was a major holiday. I just don't get how it can be so incredibly inactive some days, especially on a Monday. Good job not getting chopped up on a slow day. $15 gain is a lot better than a loss.
But even if I'm good at forecasting price sooner or later I'm going to be dead wrong. If I have no stop when do I get out? Where do I draw the line? I could start off down 2, then down 5, down 10, down 20, down 30.
Do you enter trades after a specific bar acts as a confirmation or do you enter trades in general areas?
For instance a stock in an uptrend pulls back to it's MA and hovers there. Would you buy it in that area, or do you wait for a strong green bar to appear before buying?
I was also...
NoDoji,
You seem to have the discipline and patience parts down pretty good. It's rare to see that. Maybe you could give me some insight.
How many trades do you make on a typical day? How long do you wait between trades sometimes? Are you able to just sit there for multiple...
Rashid,
I thought yesterday was a keeper all day too, but all I did was go short and get stopped out time and time again. I could have shorted and gone for a walk and come back to a nice profit.
The obvious thing I just realized is that my biggest profits have been when I've had...
Is that such a bad idea? Enter a trade. Place a stop. Place a target. Take a nap. Wake up with a small loss from being stopped out, or wake up to a big target being filled with a limit order.
The entry chart will drive a you nuts and fake you out otherwise.
How do you think you get to the next level in your trading?
By that I mean how do you go from catching a small move to catching the big moves?
How do you get to be the type of trader who can short a market like this one in the morning and just stick with it the entire day maybe adding...
How many contracts can you trade on the Mini-Nasdaq without too much slippage and order problems?
And once you reach that limit what should you move into?
I see the Mini-S&P mentioned a lot, but are there other options which are similar to the Mini-Nasdaq?
My broker says $500 for daytrading margin, something like $3,250 for overnight.
When does overnight happen?
What if I buy now and sell in an hour?
What if I buy at 2am and sell at 5am?
Which margin applies?
Those are floor pivots. I was talking about price pivots. The important highs and lows which you gauge to determine the trend. Sorry.......I forgot there were different meanings to pivots.
Anek or anyone who knows what they're doing,
If youâre around I was wondering if you could just clarify pivots a little, or just post a quick chart with the valid pivots circled so I can see an example of what I should be paying attention to.
Someone posted a couple charts in the...
