IB is the cheapest of them all for 100 lot. Just $1 a side. And you are not playing against the house when trade FX.

Newb to trading, a little help with the basics long post

This has been and still is one of my biggest dilemma: when I trade stocks at the open, especially after earnings I have to place LMT orders 3-5 cent OTM to get a fill and if I try with MKT I risk to get fill 20 or more cent OTM. Im still trying to get around it.

    Candlesticks discussion

I think you had plenty: downtrend with lower highs lower lows, long upper shadows on green candles, double tops, a few hammers, a few doji.....what more do you need? But then again, it is a question af how much trust you put on these indicators and how likely you are to act upon them.

Have you tried to look at MACDs? if you were using 20MinMA, 50MinMA, 100MinMA you might have seen something: I noticed that there was an attempt to break above its moving average, spiking to 1.2275 but didn't follow through. Of course this wouldn't have been anywhere near enough to...

Nope, because in the case you describe only another doji wouldn't be engulfing, leaving any other candle to fall by default into engulfing pattern category.

Hi doublea, Although didn't trade today, this rally caught me by surprise: I certainly didn't expect double digit gains on ES.

Maybe he can afford to throw away 10.000$.

I understand his motivation: he misspelled the name Neovest in order to attract attention and interest to neovest.com itself. IMO he's a Neovest employee conducting a covert-SPAM operation

    Playing the opening gap.

I've been closely monitoring for some time reaction from indices to big gaps at the open. Almost everytime there's a big gap-up you'll see some follow through and after a couple of hours of rally the HOD are reached and NEVER touched again. After that a retracement begins that usually last...

which new book can you suggest?

Well, it depends what knowledge you have of the market, what instruments you wanna trade and how you are gonna trade your market of choice. I, talking for myself, never bought any book but had already basic economic background and collected as many info I could from the web and business tv...

    Who trades at night?

I think the DAX may well be one of the most if not the most profitable index there is to trade. On the other hand I never got the balls to trade it. I live in London, I come from Italy and I trade the US market: like playing the opening gaps on Naz stocks.

Head & Shoulder Pattern in ES

I think both shoulders should line up and base at the same levels to invalidate the pattern, but of course I'm not sure. Base?...Is it the wright word?
