Why are people on ET so against a decent minimum wage

One of the problems with higher minimum wages is the impact it has on the whole wage scale. My brother owns a very small construction company and he employs some high school/ college students during the summer. He was paying 9-11 an hour and minimum wage was raised from 5.5 to 7 an hour. When...

    DeMark Count

One of the problems I had when using Demark indicators was trying to figure out the recycle component and tying in multiple timeframes. For instance on the weekly chart there was a completed countdown about 8-9 weeks ago that obviously didn't' work. Now we have just complete another setup on the...

Why to short the Canadian Dollar

Time to short the Canadian dollar. I was at Tim Hortons and the biker in front of me was talking about buying Canadian dollars. My John D shoeshine guy moment

    Trading fulltime retail with $50k

Is moving out west an option? If you live in the Pacific time zone you have 2 hrs to trade before work which should work well if you are trading gaps.

American looking to move to remote Canadian wilderness

Something to consider would be buying farmland in Saskatchewan. There is income potential to either rent out land or hire the work done and keep the crop for yourself (esp. if commodity bull run continues) and there are many places with streams lakes etc. and good hunting. I looked at nice...

POLL: If you could dine with One Futures Guru...

Jim Rogers. It's dinner. Not a trading job or internship or seminar. (Although I'd prob. pick Rogers for that as well.) Loved his two books and would love to hear more stories of his travels and and various investing opportunities he's uncovered over the years.

    MACD settings for intraday timeframes?

I use the 3 10 16 as well. Although I don't use much in the way of indicators, I have found that a quick glance at a MACD with those settings is usually worth my time.

    Aug Feeder Cattle.

Thanks for reply to my questions. How do you chart a spread or a crush? Does it have a symbol so you can look at a chart of the spread value itself. If it doesn't have a symbol how would you chart it? Any examples or screen shots of how you do that would be appreciated. THx

    Aug Feeder Cattle.

Couple of really stupid questions here :) First I have really only ever traded the SP and primarily the Emini so I am used to 4-5 dollar commissions. What would a good commission be for any pit traded commodity (meats or grain complex) Secondly if you put on a crush (cattle or soybeans) how...

    Bright in Calgary?

I was an emini SP trader for a few years but never really could make a living at it and was kind of interested at giving stock trading at a prop firm a try. I have never daytraded stocks at all so I don't know very much about that side of the business. And was kind of interested in what Bright...

Larry Williams arrested in Sydney for tax evasion

I have been to 2 LW seminars. An FSI back in 1996 in Las Vegas(Larry did trade this live but only 1 SP as I recall but made close to 8pts back when they were 500 a pt.) and a 2001 MDC in San Diego. I must say I enjoyed them both felt like I got my money's worth but I also never was a profitable...

If the president ordered you to round up Muslim Americans would you obey the orders?

According to Stanley Milgram approx. 70% of us would. As a matter of fact 70 % of us would probably work in concentration camps that put people to death. THis is well documented in "Obedience to Authority" by Milgram

    Overstock.com Fights Naked Shorting

Not real familiar with the subject but wasn't this a fairly common practice in Wall Street in the 1800's and early 1900's. That spawned the quotation "He that sells what isn't his'n must certainly go to prison" or something like that I don't have the best memory. LOL I believe Jay Gould was...
