    Monitor Help

So I have gotten back into trading and am looking to build a trading setup around a laptop, (Pre Covid I traveled enough that I would like a fast laptop with me wherever I go.0 The other wrinkle is I am not a gamer at all but my 10 year old son and I are really big f1 fans, So I would like to...

    Bloomberg Terminals

Thx for your response. I had a question about the news/newsfeed on a terminal. I used to trade in a Bright Trading office and several members had various news alert services like fly on the wall, trade the news, benzinga etc. With a terminal do you get news delivered in a way that could be...

    Favorite biographies related to traders?

Really aren't that many of pure traders. The Greatest Trade Ever is kind of a book about John Paulsen and it was pretty good. The market wizard books are pretty good with some cool stories from early failures and successes of great traders. The Hank Paulsen bio which is mostly focused on 2008...

Starting an online business vs trading stocks?

I can’t comment on an online business as I have never started one. However I can say with almost certainty that $2000 is not enough to make money trading. It just takes longer/more money to learn this business.

Three Questions for those who taking Exam Series 3 and 7 License

Writing the Series 7 would be a waste of time in your situation. I wrote the 7 back in 2007 when I joined Bright trading as it was a requirement. I can’t think of a single thing that made me a better trading. Think of it as learning the traffic laws of every city in the world somehow making you...

Does anyone know how TSX stocks close

I have started trading Toronto stocks a bit and was wondering if anyone knew how they close the individual stocks. I used to trade NYSE so I am familiar with that but the close of one of My stocks on Friday got me wondering how things work in Toronto. I have a small position of Ovintiv (OVV) it...

    Total lawlessness in Minnesota

The real problem are the cops that stand around and do nothing while this happens. They(Police and prosecutors) are quick to charge normal people people with accessory and conspiracy when it suits them. Why not do the same here. I grudgingly accept that the nature of the job means you are going...

    Bloomberg Terminals

Thanks for the replies. I had no intention of getting one for myself. What blew me away was what JPM and BOA paid for their terminals and that they didn't get much or any of a discount. I knew they were expensive I just always assumed that once you need 100 or 1000 you would get a big discount.

    Bloomberg Terminals

I am venturing back into more active trading after having been away for several years. Was doing a bunch of reading over the weekend and looking for data/news/charting services. Anyways I fell down a Bloomberg rabbit hole when I saw that between JPM and BoA they were spending $168,000,000 on...

What other markets could potentially trade negative.

Yes I am talking about processor shortage. A live cattle contract is for fat cattle. Feeding fats is pretty much an exact science where a calf is pushed on feed (Corn or barley) until they reach the optimal weight and condition for slaughter. You don't just keep feeding them at least not at...

What other markets could potentially trade negative.

So this crude going negative has really caused me to ponder what other markets could trade negative and what trading strategies would it affect. For example we could have a meat shortage yet all the packing plants closed because of Covid and it is not inconceivable to me that live Cattle could...

Really enjoyed listening to Art in the 90’s. I was actually listening the night of the famed “Area 51 Caller.” Very compelling radio.

Can I hear about your worst trades ever?? Everyone will freely talk about their best ones...

An interesting read on the subject is a book called “Supertrader meets Kryptonite.” A bunch of fairly well known traders describe their worst ever loss.

Lyft confirms $600M in new funding at $7.5B valuation

You know I wonder if I am getting too old for the business of trading. I just don't get this. These valuations that make your head completely spin. I mean they are a big taxi dispatch service. I tip my hat to the founders though.

    Need Canola Friends

I trade mostly cash canola because I am a farmer. I use the futures occasionally although generally just contract directly with crusher. Not many products trade in Canadian dollars so it is nice for that. One thing to be aware of is the importance of the Yorkton basis (Three major crushers in...
