    CNBC - Cramer's Mad Money

    I couldn't even watch 2 mins. He's making a fool of himself.

From Prop firm to prop trading for a Hedgefund

Anyone can get .005 (or better) for min $5k down with 20:1 (or more) leverage with 100% payout these days. So how good are the comms that you are talking about to make it worthwhile at a hedgefund?

Walking the walk (Blotter Thread Continued)

I personally believe that trend days will work well, and chop days probably won't work much at all. Also, a good discretionary entry point is important. I don't know if you can filter that in your backtesting. Just common sense, but maybe DT could comment on it.

Walking the walk (Blotter Thread Continued)

Nice work, you got me curous enough to try TI again. Made a little with it today (LEA, TMX etc) and had a decent day on the regular stuff too. So, a thanks is in order.

Walking the walk (Blotter Thread Continued)

You can't say that without showing your blotter. I'd take $1600 every day ($380k/yr) and I've been doing this for 7+ years.

I agree with the journal idea. That's what they are for.

    ARCA/NYSE merger?

Good article...finally a mention of the actual plans: "The NYSE and Archipelago have said they want to keep both markets separate -- Archipelago's electronic exchange and the NYSE's own market, which is centered on a physical trading floor but that is expected to become more automated as the...

    What happened with INTC??

This thread helped my somewhat pathetic trading day. I picked up 4k at .72 :-)

Blotter Time (Put up or shut up)

Corey is for real (I've met him). I remember him posting on Don's OPG thread that day talking about the gains. Also, in sim mode the Hammer BP is usually set to $1M.

Everyone has a winning day once in a while. Monthly statement would be more impressive.

Account size / per share Volume

Figure he would pay $10k/mo over what he would at a place like Assent or Genesis. At Genesis he could get 10:1, 100%, .003 +sec/ecn, $5/10k deposit. This is assuming he has his licenses. That better be a damn good monthly salary!

    Win/loss ratio?

Since everyone's trading is so different here (swing, scalping, liquidity trading etc) a better question might be what their average cents-per-share profit is. Most profitable traders would fall in the 1-2 cent per share range. Just a thought.

    Where to go after E-trade

I traded with Assent for 2 years, then switched to Genesis this year. Assent can't compete with Genesis rates. The software is comperable. Genesis API is better. Genesis has occasional disconnects which can be frustrating but worth it to me for the commission savings.

    Short Sale update

I thought my response was definitive too. Through BZ-X in Laser I can do it, although the Merril and OES NX routes do not work. It's most likely up to your broker.

What is the longest a method/system of trading has lasted for you?

-1998-2000 Trading IPO's: It was good while the MM's still didn't fully understand how to hide their intentions through ECN's. Somewhat profitable. -June 2000 to Mar 2001: Scalping JNPR. This stock was a gift from the trading gods for this short period. Averaged about $2k/day, then the...

Market on Close order for a small trader (under 5000 shares)

When there is a large imbalance on the stock due to news or an index rebalance then some guys will get a position near the close in the direction of the imbalance. Then put in an offsetting MOC order hoping to close out the trade on a nice MOC print. Big examples would be AOL when added to...

    Short Sale update

I'm able to NX the bid in Laser with BZ-X, but not ML-X or OES-X.

Do I have a case against INET or Cybertrader?

I used to play that type of trade all the time in 98-00. There was always some poor fool whos limit order wasn't cancelled when the stock opened sometimes $5-10 away from the old market. I never had the trade busted, but these days it could be different.
