    The Perfect Option position

Wait, wait guys. Don't stop at the first post. There is no marketing here. There is no "secret" strategy to be sold here. If you go through some posts you will see the strategy is no secret, it's a butterfly with a wrangle. It was posted a challenge to idnetify a strategy (not to sell some...

    The Perfect Option position

What a pleasure Doctor to see a reply from you within minutes! From my understanding of the original post, the position will benefit even if the underlying moves down. The strategy you posted (the PDF) seems to benefit from t the upside while it will have (although limited but) loss. I don't...

    The Perfect Option position

I just came across this thread. Wow! Anybody has any update on the strategy after 4 years? And even if there is no update, this thread needs to be read by many others like me who might have missed it in the recent years - so thumbs up, and bump up!

    The Monkey Calendar

If you also add the Put vertical (making it an IC) and combined with the Calendar, it reduces the Vega further, and increase Theta at the same time widening your break even points. I just call it a Bell Calendar (that is what it looks like on the graph). I know you mentioned that the...

    The Monkey Calendar

Are you suggesting this to be done in 2:1 ratio? (2 cal vs. 1 vert)

Where to get the greeks on options on futures?

If you have an acct with Optionsxpress (OX), they have started providing Greeks. Xpresstrade (which they took over) had it with various tabular display options. OX shows it when you mouse over the symbol on the Futures Options chain page. It is not so intuitive if you want to compare different...

Profit from market neutral options writing - possible or not?

"yes" is the answer, but "how" is the question! do you have any example?

Profit from market neutral options writing - possible or not?

    Iron Condor

OC: thanks MTE: That's very encouraging. What do you trade - index or stocks? How did you manage during those losing months? If you are still in black, you must have managed the losses well. e.g. if you make 3-5% for the other months, and (I agree, not easy to do all the time) but you contain...

    Iron Condor

OC: are you suggesting an alternative to IC? would it be right to say that one should have a combination of (income) strategies? I was leaning toward ic/credit spread in high vol, and calendars in low vol. environment. of course, it is a million dollar question if i can predict the vols!

    Options on Futures

I strongly suggest NOT going for the futures trading directly. It is very rewarding if you are right, but definitely very risky if you are not. As with futures you get high leverage compared to stocks. If you trade spreads or buy straight options, there is no need to worry about the SPAN...

    Best Option Spread Strategy

A long DBL will make sense when the IV is low. When the total vega for the spread is positive. Vega for longer term option (the one bought) will have higher vega which will help if volatility increases.

Tom, Thanks for the udpate and clarification. I have seen Dan on CBOE, and what I have gathered is that he is not big on technical analysis. My question is, some of the income strategies are directional. Wouldn't it help to identify a general direction/trend before entering the trade? What is...
