what is the daily trading liquidity of commodity futures?

WTI crude on CME alone is about 500k contracts a day, $90k notional. ICE probably does a similar volume in Brent? A lot more than we usually need to worry about.

Would you guys be interested in working together on this? If so, pm me.

NinjaTrader with Trading Technolgies does not support Brent ICE futures contract.

But if that were the case, why does NT support *some* ICE instruments?

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

There isn't a league office that keeps track of "records" and deciding whether an asterisk that goes on it. You put whatever data out there, and understand that future (sophisticated) investors will be judging you on the weight of evidence. So, any marketing material for the institutional...

I don't see why it has to be "solely" managed account.

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

Of course, my plan is to offer two products going forward: - my current aggressive fund with $3mm AUM, - an institutional targeted program with $10mm AUM, emphasizing low m/e, low vol, (hopefully) low draw-down, but still an excellent Sharpe with zero correlation. The new managed account...

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

I just had a bit of a "duh" moment. I could achieve exactly the same desired outcome just by opening a managed account for myself with a total of $15mm, and just notionally fund 10%. (In reality, probably 20%.) I could then claim, with all accuracy and legality, $10-15mm in AUM.

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

I dotted every I and crossed every t. I didn't cut a single corner, and paid for good professional support from legal/admin/audit. I have zero concerns. To answer your question, its a Delaware LP with a California LLC as management company. Registered as a CPO with the NFA, appropriate...

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

All the major databases. IASG, not previously because I thought they might not be LAMP compliant, but I should revisit. Haven't made much of an effort on hitting the conferences; two young kids at home and a wife in md residency. I'd prefer to pay a marketer to do that for me. Probably a...

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

Great brain-storming session, guys. :) You all pretty much hit every point, from every angle, I can think of. I'm a risk-taking guy (have to be to get to this point, yes?)... so I *am* attracted by the idea of "go big or go home". I know Maverick74 feels me on that point. And I'm a...

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

Maverick, We are probably talking about the same guys. I've heard positive things from two parties. Principals are B and T, and the fund name starts with a T? Oh he'll, before break out pig Latin I will just pm you. Nice of you to confirm their reputation. B was pretty candid that...

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

I'm trading futures, so prop trading leverage not an option. I also fundamentally really am not looking to leverage my money any further. I'm looking for size credibility for institutional investors. I have someone at Silverleaf I'm working with on cap intro from institutional money, and...

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

LeeD, I'm not especially concerned about that aspect. This would probably be run as a separately managed account. I also don't believe there's at heart a legal problem with having side-letter agreements with different limited partners.

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

So, after the call, the terms are more clear... and it really comes down to preference, weighing the risks/rewards. - They have no problems with my strategy/fund, are interested. - Very firm on 10% draw-down. Cross your equity buffer, you're out. They will not take losses, period. -...

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

Could you elaborate on this point? The only reason I'm doing this is to legitimately claim to have a $20mm fund for further fund raising purposes. If you don't think this passes muster, then I should pass. Thank you for the compliment. I've been around the block in business, just not this...

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

A 50/50 split of losses is somewhat similar to the idea mentioned earlier: I take up to 10% of assets as losses, but they can't pull out until I break 20% loss cap. No, has nothing to do with HedgeCo, very poor impression of them as well. I still havent talked to the fund itself yet, but...

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

AppreciTe the insights so far. I especially like the thought of insisting on the 2% management fee, as well as a 20% loss "cap" beyond my 10% contribution. (Although... From their perspective, after I lose my 10%, I'd have a lot of incentive to take risks to regain my money with their capital...

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

Can you give me some insight as to what the second means, in practice? Some kind of "commitment" to cover losses up to $20 mil without actually putting in a cent? And what's the significance of one versus the other?

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

And alternatively, rather than someone masquerading as an investor... could I instead find someone willing to lend to me up to 10x1 leverage...? (So that I'm at least keeping 100% of profits minus whatever interest.)

Growing AUM with "first loss" funds

Hi all, Again, new to the industry... so this may be a bit of a newb question. I've been informed that there may be institutional funds willing to "invest" in my fund, but not as a direct investment. They're looking at a first loss arrangement: I put up $2 million, and they would put up...
