    Anyone mining Ethereum from home?

If you can't work out the maths yourself, another site that does a good job of this is here: https://whattomine.com/ FYI, I have 27 graphics cards mining for a bit of fun because I'm a geek at heart. Not really looking to make anything out of it, but I've got a crazy machine learning rig when...

    Anyone mining Ethereum from home?

The energy calculation sums continue to be poor on this forum. The sums are based upon $0.09/kWh. Nvidia 3060, when mining, consumes 106.25 W of electricity. 106.25W over 24 hours is 2.55kWh. 2.55 kWh of electricity per day. 2.55 * $0.09/kWh = $0.23 per day. The $0.09/kWh rate came from...

    Anyone mining Ethereum from home?

Yes - the confusion is yours. Your terminology is wrong, as are your calculations. A $700 GPU (such as nvidia 3060) will have gross profit of $2.06 with elecricity costs of $0.23/day, so just over a year. However, Ethereum won't be mineable by GPU late 2021 or early 2022, so there's no...

    Anyone mining Ethereum from home?

Urgh also wrong. Appliances are rated in watts. If you run a 3000 watt kettle for an hour you have used 3 kWh of energy. If you run a 3000 watt kettle for 1 minute you have used 0.5 kWh of energy.

TIme to go back to school. It's not PER hour. Something consuming 116W constantly over a 24 hour period consumes 2.8kWh of electricity. So Electricity costs are $0.84 or around 28% of your mining income in this example.

Even at $0.14/kWh it's still over a year until breakeven.

    Anyone mining Ethereum from home?

2.8kWh is a daily figure If you are paying $0.30 per kWh then 2.8 kWh costs you $0.84, reducing your daily profit to $2.16. So 462 days until break even!

    Anyone mining Ethereum from home?

You've missed the boat. A $1000 graphics card currently generates $3 in profit a day less whatever 2.8 kWh of electricity costs you with a serious risk of it producing far less soon. If you did it 6 months ago, it's paid for itself by now and you've got a free graphics card (and a warm...

Any good open-source trading platforms for futures and stocks?

The issue is the number of securities in the database - of course you can't have them all open! Amibroker handles that number of securities just fine for charting. For backtesting Realtest is super-quick - just got it recently but only using it for daily data, AmiBroker is also quite quick...

Any good open-source trading platforms for futures and stocks?

You're asking a lot - I use several different software environments. Ninjatrader is terrible with hundreds of symbols - it can only handle a few hundred before it crashes. Restarting it extends the limits again (for a while) but then crashes again. Performance is slow when you have such large...

    Software for historical performance/correlations

Don't forget survivorship bias. You've asked for a backtest involving stocks in the S&P 500. Today's S&P 500 is not the same as it was 1,2,3,4,5 years ago etc! e.g. Consider Monsanto that delisted June 2018 (takeover by Bayer) - it was a member of the S&P 500. Do you even have this data in...

How Much Can You Improve A Strategy's Returns With Adjustments?

Well there was a 2:1 stock split and it also started paying dividends, so those numbers don't stack up, but even so you're not quite back to breakeven if you bought at the peak of the dotcom boom. I use a combination of systems to smooth out drawdowns (trend following, mean reversion, momentum...
