    Market Outlook

Not I. But then the next issue is the start date. There are 20 more trading days until Christmas. Somewhere there should be room for a short rally. I'm about exhausted trading downhill.

How not to pay too much 4 Calendars?

Eldorado, I'm new around here and can follow your trade somewhat although I don't know which of your legs are calls or puts. I guess I would need to know what your overall strategy is and what your entry and exit points are in order to put this one trade into perspective. I assume direction...

Underlyings With High vs. Low Prices -- What's the Difference?

Ok guys. I just checked the 117-118 spy call spread which is .53 and the 1170-1180 spx call spread is 5.30 for DecWK1. That's 10 to 1 like you say. But right now the premiums are static. The times I'm thinking of were the last two Friday mornings, about mid morning, when I was comparing...

    broker difference

TD Am will give you 500 free trades in 60 days with a 5 grand account which is more than enough time and trades to lose 5K day trading. 5K will buy about 9 shares of Priceline which doesn't give you much to work with day trading. Try options.

German Gold Bearer Bonds - Pre WWII

He had a letter from a forensic examiner saying they were authentic. But anyone can write a letter. But assuming authenicity, the ebay trading seemed to be based upon collector's item value up to $250 or so. There is another market for them but based upon the ruling of the lawsuit in...

German Gold Bearer Bonds - Pre WWII

Sounds like quite the deal if they didn't ask you to front the money for inheritance taxes by wire transfer first.:)

German Gold Bearer Bonds - Pre WWII

Hi. I was recently contacted by someone with a bunch of his grandfather's German gold bearer bonds with all coupons. Apparently they were issued in the US by JP Morgan in the 20's or 30's and then Hitler defaulted on them. He says there is a market here in the US for about $1200 or so...

Underlyings With High vs. Low Prices -- What's the Difference?

I've been trading the spx and the spy. They are priced at a 10 to 1 basis and they follow each other very closely. However I've noticed the options premiums don't follow each other on a 10 to 1 basis. Maybe 6 or 7 to 1. But the spx is safer to trade assignment wise so there is some trade off...

weekly turkey otions expire Thursday, or Friday?

I'd bet you are about to meet your barber for that haircut.:) RUT/Russell 2000 Index closed on Turkey day and settled Friday morning at open. Don't know about the others except SPX closed on Friday.

Option Market Makers vs Stock Market Makers

Darn. Just when I thought I was doing so good in my second month of trading options. 34.94% ROI Now you seem to be saying that this month is an aberration. :(

    Who sold the penny contracts?

Yeah but I'm an Options penny pennyaire and can only afford a penny for your book. Then when I factor in your book's time value and IV, most of my penny will be at risk higher than my ROR allows. I don't know how to figure the delta and theta on your book.:D

Close out of SPX & RUT index options

The broker hasn't closed all my OTM expired positions yet but I did find a transaction on the activity list. Sometime on Friday there was a BTC for the two 720 RUT calls for .35 plus one broker commission of 12.95. Total cost for the 720 option expiring in the money at 720.35 was $82.95 but...

Option wash sales; by contract or by underlying?

No one, including any tax professional or the IRS, can answer a hypothetical question that is devoid of any specific facts. H & R Block won't even understand the question. You can list out the entire transaction fact by fact with all dates, dollar amounts, trade types, profits/losses, and...

Close out of SPX & RUT index options

Update: S&P 500 SET finally posted it's settlement price sometime after lunch on Friday. I am well OTM on those 3 trades. However Russell 2000/RUT RLS didn't post it's settlement price until late Friday night at 720.35. I had bot 2 Nov 11 call contracts of RUT 725 and sold 2 Nov 11 calls...

Close out of SPX & RUT index options

Thanks guys. Yeah I had a thousand chickens counted and now you tell me the fox is still in the hen house. Looks like the futures started down already. Most of the S&P ones are way out of the money at 1250-1280 but I have one close at 1225 and a couple RUTs at 720 which are close. Hope I...

Close out of SPX & RUT index options

Hi guys. I had a good day chasing the SPX down hill with ntm bear call spreads. Finished off my buying power with a couple RUT ntm bear call trades. They are now expired worthless. Since Nov 11 option trading on SPX and RUT ends on Thursday (today), I just wondering when they...
