roger2, thanks :D maximising only maximises to the one monitor, but the workspace can be stretched ok to cover both monitors. Still is a bit odd to say the least - why restrict windows to only within the workspace? ps - i read about the lack of futures - i guess this means no S&P...

IB updates your account page as you go, so no reason not to be up to date with your cash balance - I expect IB already have safeguards against customers trying to overstep their account cash balance anyway..... so if the rules apply to margin accounts - does this truly mean cash accounts are...

you don't mention which broker you're using - if it's datek you should use medved quotetracker which will take the datek data feed and give you a nice watch screen with charts etc, raw data (time and sales) and level 2 if you want. Order entry is much quicker due to ability to click on bid/ask...

If you can not find any info from the brokers website re order flow payments then you should assume they are getting it. Datek refunds any order flow payments to you - should find it somewhere on their website. I cannot comment on the others........ coops

You're correct about the 30% withholding tax..... this will be automatically deducted in most cases. I have an account with Datek, and have had deductions for tax withholding. When you open your account, or whenever, send in a W8BEN form - this is available online from the US IRS service...
