    Most shareholder friendly stock?

Most shareholder friendly stock? BRK.A I wrote about it here on ET nearly two years ago. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=753334&highlight=berkshire#post753334 And here is part of the reason for my choice...

Es profit on 1/4 point can it be done? Part II

saxon22, Long ago, Mark Twain said: “A man who tries to carry a cat home by its tail will learn a lesson that can be learned in no other way.” IMO, the same can be said about intra-day trading of index futures for such small targets. The lessons that need to be learned cannot be...

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

Very nicely said. This is truly the heart of the matter. As Eckhardt points out, we all have a strong tendency to focus too much on the current trade we are in, and, ANYTHING that we do to keep the current trade from turning into a loss (eg. scaling out) almost invariably acts to reduce the...

    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

I agree with you. I think the Index Futures markets are just about ready to enter the 'Strongly Trending' mode on the larger timeframe charts (Daily & Weekly). Retracements are normally very shallow in such an environment. IMHO, of course.:)

    Who's your trading idol?

Good post, guru. In an interview to author John Du Rand (circa 1923), Jesse Livermore spoke about his hero in trading. It was some guy who lived in a remote location in the mountains of Northern California and based his trading decisions solely upon three day old stock quotes. About four...

Stupid newbie question: sold what I didn't buy

Actually, Daniel Drew used this line against Cornelius Vanderbilt in their famous battle for the control of Erie and Harlem Railroads (circa 1865). http://www.brainyquotes.com/quotes/quotes/d/danieldrew190851.html http://www.brainyencyclopedia.com/encyclopedia/d/da/daniel_drew.html

What Does it Take to Make it Big?

Here is how one guy made it big through the markets - to the tune of about $500 million a year. (Thomas Peterffy, Chairman Interactive Group). http://www.iinews.com/site/pdfs/IIMag_InteractiveBrokers_Nov_2005.pdf

I agree with that. (Unless they can be turned into widely held beliefs - in which case it becomes very profitable for the very large players to fade those common perceptions)

    superfoods for trading

superfoods for trading? Lots of humble pie - keeps the vision clear and protects against swelled head.:) P.S. Staying away from refined sugars and processed foods also works great in keeping yourself even-tempered during the trading day.

    This market is like......

Yes. Most of us are not playing the market - we are playing the players. Until those players start selling, it is futile to act based upon our view of economic conditions alone. There is much more money to be made by piggy-backing the players than by trying to front-run them. Just my .02, of...

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

optionpro007, For intraday trading of index futures, I think the question of whether to scale out is not the right question to begin your inquiry with. It is not a trivial question but it IS like putting the cart before the horse. IMO, the most important skill for this type of trading is...

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

LOL, have you put on a trade since then? (just kidding) I would like to point out here that what B1S2 is advocating is the time-tested 'classical' method of trading commodity futures on longer timeframes. The very famous "Turtle" trading rules - developed by the legendary Richard Dennis -...
