i adjust for f/v as well. but i haven't blocked out buying above or selling below the close, that's the part i'm trying to figure out. It's worked the last two days but not sure if that is luck or a trend!

i'm using 15 stocks in my test. Yesterday (big rally pre-open) i got 9 fills on the buyside. Today (decent sell off pre-open) i got 8 fills on sell side. Both days were profitable. I was using a .20% envelope only (both sides). Do you guys adjust or not send one of the sides on days when...

Don, i understand your thought process. I would think leaving out "newsy" stocks and items of potential extreme moves (earnings etc) over the long haul is probably the right way to go. Chiguy, wow that is sobering! Thanks for your feedback.

i see some people take out banks and brokers why is that? It seems over time that if it is for volatility reasons, that it would be good to have them in.

starting to do my research/practice on this theory today. One question...how do you guys pick the stocks to use? What I did, was go through the index weightings of the SPX members and chose 15 of the top 25 as my test sample. I set up my spreadsheet to do all of the calculations. Overall...

the other thing is...remember the reasons why you executed a trade and then trade out accordingly.

ride winners, cut losers. Never fight the tape!!!!! The market has a way of humbling people very quickly! Also, listen to everyone around and read as much as possible you never know where you will get an edge from.

Some good reading in this forum. Just wanted to introduce myself. As I mentioned on a previous thread, I have been an institutional trader for 15+ years. 8 1/2 years at Goldman Sachs, 4 at UBS, and then 3 at a smaller shop. I've been thinking of switching to prop/day trading for a while now...

so are you saying that if 4:1 leverage on the money I want to use is enough then I should go retail not prop?

Here is a little background. I've been trading for 15+ years. First 8 1/2 at Goldman Sachs, next 4 at UBS then smaller shop. I've been tossing around the idea of doing it on my own now. In your opinions what are the advantages of doing it retail vs going with a prop shop. -tks.

Does anyone have a tool that can give intraday chart of a stock for an historical date? I need an intraday chart for PD from Feb 4, 2005
