    Unemployment benefits rejected YET again!!!!!

So the House already passed a bill extending the housing closing credit.... So who's playing who and what exactly is in these bills (since it's never just "one or two items")?

Instead of soupkitchen lines we have this.

that too :D I have a 3GS...I must admit though after upgrading from my older LG & Verizon it is that good. Unlike most Apple "loyalty" users who are probably also dumb as bricks when it comes to these things (i.e. standing in line like that :D ), I immediately jailbroke mine. The things...

Informal poll: Why do you live where you do?

Western Massachusetts (Springfield area) Stagnation, but massively grew because of immigrants and minorities (minorities are now the majority in Springfield) as others left. My town seems to be holding its own relatively overall. Government-wise, I'd say things are fine..it's a big town...

NY pension fund to sue BP for investment loss

Love to see what else they've "invested" in...sheesh was BP really *that* much of the portfolio?

Fannie Mae ups penalty on "strategic defaulters"

ummm...doesn't a foreclosure sit on your credit for 7 years anyway? Sure, you *might* be re-eligible in 4-5 the way things are now, but still..in theory if you aren't, this is the *exact* same thing! Just big brother "scolding" you for doing it because lots of others are :D

This crisis means the end of bullsh*t college and university degrees?

Colleges rely on students. No students, no college. No workers. No jobs. It's a business. The higher or consistent the enrollments, the easier and more likely it is for these people to keep their jobs...

Is Texas the best state in which to live?

Second based on the criteria we're using...I don't think those states have little or anything "against" to live :D (maybe a blizzard or two in ND)

What's the latest on future Healthcare & Health Insurance & IRS Fines for no coverage

One needs to look at the Massachusetts plan to see where this is all going, since MA has a "mandated" state plan to get insurance through something (state, private, or employment) or else pay the fines, namely through losing your personal exemption on the state tax form. Right now it costs 0...

Defending student loans and the American education system.

Well, I guess you're kind of "tied" to your job/paycheck then to make something while you head back...and was also looking. I would almost get myself fired/quit or something, then collect unemployment...at least THAT would not only give you the money that was made (or maybe more?), but can...

Many Americans Too Broke to File for Bankruptcy

Unfortunately it's perceived to be. "Go to school, get a job." When you think like these kids are these days with that "sudden realization" of none, or a low-paying job, tons of debt, and what they typically have, 4+ years spent in schooling...you feel a bit cheated...if that even comes to...

Many Americans Too Broke to File for Bankruptcy

That's the unfortunate part. With just a little research and do-it-yourself knowledge, a lot of stuff you'd pay an "expert" to do, you can do just fine. Of course, the idea is to pay them to do it so YOU don't have to in the first place...but when one always cries "I can't afford it!" when...

Many Americans Too Broke to File for Bankruptcy

BS. #1. You can do it yourself...save out the attorney costs there, since I bet many are a cut-and-dry Chapter 7 (owe more then you make). Even still with a little research, you can file yourself. #2. States can waive the filing fee if you can fill out/apply and prove such (i.e. poor...

Teens Face Worst Summer Job Market in 41 Years

My local gas station chain constantly has turnover...I used to hit several branches fairly frequently (and still hit a select few often enough) and every few weeks there would be new employees in there...some I bet got transferred, but they just kept on hiring. Pays a bit above minimum too...

Census jobs inflated because the Census "rehires"?

"Labor doesn't check the Census hiring figure or whether the jobs are actually new or recycled. It considers a new job to have been created if someone is hired to work at least one hour a month." Guess they didn't hire and fire enough :D

Public Debt to Surpass GDP by 2012 Under Obama

By Garfield Reynolds and Wes Goodman June 4 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama is poised to increase the U.S. debt to a level that exceeds the value of the nation’s annual economic output, a step toward what Bill Gross called a “debt super cycle.” The CHART OF THE DAY tracks U.S...
