Well, if you ever read his book (which is worthless as a trading book IMO) he tells how he didn't study and had a low gpa..During classes he studied charts..He watched FNN most of the day. And of course MRK will go whenever it wants to go, even it could climb a wall of worry. Just my opinion..

Maybe cuz the minimum tick in ES is 0.25, which divided by 10 comes to 2.5 cents on the SPY, which makes the spread in futures higher than in the etf. Also with ES you have less strict margin requirements and can go as high as 1:10 leverage or above and can easily blow up and lose everything...

Normally Cramer influences stocks for a day ,at least that's my observation after watching his show for about two months during may and june. After that most stocks just stay without moving a lot.A notable exception is Google..However JPM is the example of a stock going nowhere..

So you basically used a 5 hour breakout? Which is half of the daily session.. I think the session there is way TOO long.. Open at 9:00 CET and close at 20:00 CET...11 hours a day..You have influence from the european open, and influence from major us reports @ 7:30 ET ( which is 14:30 CET) and...

I have seen a lot of widely available systems that actually work.. I have mentioned here that i have read 2-3 books from the 80's whose systems are still performing nice. OF course they sometimes have their down perids ( like 1-2 years of drawdowns) but hey, that's what you get for an "ancient"...

I was wondering if you are stopped out from a trade do you enter the opposite side or you just do one trade a day? For example today first i had a short signal, but it proved to be just whipsaw and eventually i was stopped, but i had a buy entry :)) ( i am talking demo testing of course :)

I just think that there's a limit to compounding your capital while daytrading. If you had a system that makes 0.25% daily ( for example) on 10000 shares of a stock that trades 500000 shares a day, if you increase size, you are going to affect the market.. A possible solution would be the e-mini...

ElectricSavant, Fundamentally the market might go sideways on thursday,simply because we almost always have some nivce reports kicking in at 8:30 AM on friday, so nobody wants to place a bet? Anyone else have any other suggestion :))

Well today ( thursday) the system missed 23 points on the dow..

First i would like to thank sidinUK for the wonderful post. Second, if anyone wants to read Gary Smith's book "Live the dream", he/she could see that thursdays were poor days during his systems testing from 1986-1994.. I do not know how it tested from 1994-2002..But i suggest thursdays...
